Hi everyone! Welcome back/If you think you’re new here, you’re not, you were here in a past life 😏 I be haunting you in a next life 🤣). Tomorrow is……🥁dromroll please🥁…..fathers day!! 👨🏿 (This emoji doesn’t describe my dad very well, he’s bald 😂). Happy fathers day to all the fathers out there if you’re celebrating! Here in Ireland, the 21st of June is father’s day, is it the same where you are? I’ve had a busy last few days so I’m looking forward to having a nice time with my family with the hijinks that is planned! (I can’t say what tho just because he can’t know until tomorrow!).
What is there to say about my dad? Well one thing about him is that he’s a fact-house (like a power-house!), he knows everything!! He’s always listening to the radio and will probably hear about the apocalypse/doomsday before the rest of us 🤣 (don’t worry, I’ll let you know! 🫡😂). I love my dad so much and put up with all his jokes 😁 and constant Beatles or JFK facts!
He is the most difficult person to buy gifts for but back at the end of December last year (yes I was thinking of father’s day after Christmas 😅 you gotta be prepared! 🤣) I found out that Jools Holland and his Rhythm & Blues Orchestra were coming to Dublin’s 3arena on June the 8th 2026 and I just knew my dad would love it! Jools is one of those known names in our house, especially as we used to watch his annual new years hootenanny back when we still had UK TV channels. I told my dad in January so that he could prepare himself as this would be his first big venue since covid and over the months we both got really excited for the event to come around! (Well I was sorta anxious as normally with concerts I depend on my sister for directions and all that kinda stuff but we got there in one piece and had an awesome time!).

Okay, so I know I’ve already written about this concert our coffee chat last week but I’mma say it again. We don’t do fun things to only talk about them once (…Lucy, we don’t do things just to talk about them at all 🤨…but it is nice 🤣). I know fathers day, mothers day, birthdays and Christmas are not all about gifts but I wanted an experience gift with my dad and that is what we got! Roachford, Ruby Turner and other guests were there too. We had thought Roachford wouldn’t be there but he was! I only know his song Cuddly Toy from playing Grand Theft Auto when I was younger 🖖😂.
In all my 27 years I’ve just been to one other concert with my dad where it was only the two of us (a Beatles tribute pre-covid) and this was even better than that! 🙌 My dad had seen Ruby Turner when he was younger so it was like a full circle moment. I shared on my insta stories about how I always ask myself if I like jazz and then I find my feet tapping along 🤣. The music was just so good and even though I didn’t know the majority of the songs it was even more fun because you didn’t know what was coming next, especially with Roachford appearing as he was meant to be support but it got changed in the announcement to somebody else so we weren’t expecting him. What a night! If you wanna see videos then feel free to check out my Instagram 2026 concert highlights! (The only other concert on there so far is Conan Gray back in May! 💥).
Anyway, it was a magical night and I’ll never forget it 🥹. We had snacks in the car and on the drive home listening to radio via my phone as the car one is broken, I was swapping between channels trying to find some good tunes! (They played The Beatles and Take That back to back – two of my dad’s favs altho Take That is a secret! 🤫🤣). We’re a very humorous family, it’s how we get through things and I love that about us, how similar we all are. I also have my dad’s wicked grin! 😆🤣 Growing up we bonded over music (such as Chuck Berry, ELO and The Traveling Wilburys to name but a few), comedy (The Young Ones) and games (we had an endless supply of computer games growing up + also Super Mario) and now? Well, we’ve built the base and can just BE around eachother…..except when you’re talking about The Beatles cause that can get a bit much, hey dad? 😇🤣
Incase you’re unaware, Father Time is a song by Jools Holland that I love, hence the title of this post. You can listen to it by clicking on the link. I thought it fit nicely with the topic of introducing you to a bit about my dad!
May we make more timeless memories like these together – I want to make that my mission!! 😊✨️ Tomorrow we celebrate father’s day and then it’s my mums birthday at the beginning of next month. I’m very grateful for them both and I enjoy celebrating them and seeing their lit up faces! Not that they only smile on occasions that they get given things, it’s just that bit bigger when they do 😏😂…the way I say lit up faces makes it sound like they are my kids…well dad, you do have no hair 👶🏿🤣 (Don’t worry guys, it’s by choice, we can make jokes, it’s what we do! 🤭).
What about you? Are your family humorous (I would say funny but thats entirely up to personal preference, I mean of course we’re gonna think we are funny! 😂). What is the next event you’re celebrating? Any 4th of July peeps in the chat? Birthdays? What starsign are you?? 😯 Okay, okay, too much! 😶🌫️…but I’m a scorpio if you must know 😜🤣.
I’mma go now to write in a card and wrap my dad’s solitary gift from me as he’s had his main one, we gotta keep it real and it’s not in me to give NOTHING on the day itself 🤣.
I hope that this post finds you on a good day. Happy fathers day to those who are celebrating it! Go hug your loved ones! (If hugging is your thing….I live for a good hug!! Here ya go 🤗😉🤭. I’ll see you again next weekend but until then you can find me on Youtube sharing videos, in the comments section of this blog or on Instagram sharing motivational quotes to my stories every single day! ✅️ Take care, stay safe and buh-bye! 🖖🤣
