I’m walking 30K for Cancer this June 🚶🏽‍♀️🫶🏽

Hi everyone! How are you? Today I wanted to share something I’ve been looking forward to that impacts us all because its such an important cause. This June, I will be walking 30 kilometres for the Irish Cancer Society! 💫

My family hasn’t been touched by cancer before (touch wood) and I’m grateful to be able to say that, many are not in the same position and I can only imagine what it’s like to go through/see a loved one go through.

My sister and I are fans of Mel Schilling from Married at First Sight who recently passed away from colon cancer and when I saw that there was a 150k walk for breast cancer (I get ads for that) I was intrigued but with chronic pain I cannot possibly walk that much, I wanted to be realistic but still take part so when I saw that the Irish Cancer Society let you choose your distance I cemented the fact that this was something I’m going to do!

The Irish Cancer Society provide support for those affected by cancer, ground-breaking cancer research and so much more including providing transport to appointments and free end of life care so that patients can spend their final days at home. You can read more about them HERE.

My goal for June is to raise €300 (I thought 30km/€300 and if the total goes over that then even better for such a worthwhile cause. If you are in the position to donate then I would very much appreciate it, every bit helps and makes a difference whether it’s €1 or €5. If not then I totally understand, regardless, walk I shall! 🫡 You can check out my fundraiser page by clicking HERE!

Walking is my favourite form of exercise as it gives me the least backlash in form of flare-ups. I just pop on a podcast or listen to Conan Gray/BTS and off I go, using either my Fitbit watch or more recently my phone to track steps (like when I lost my Fitbit charger at the beginning of May – oh how I searched 🤣). I find walks either go one of two ways: they empty my mind or they fill me with ideas and they’re a great way to move about and give me a rush of feel good endorphins! I won’t lie and say this will be easy, I can’t do it everyday but I have a goal and also, my sister has offered to help walk with me which is always super fun!

This past week or so I’ve had pain from thinking I could lift a sack of soil with no repercussions (I completely forgot why the pain was flaring up until two days later 🤣) but I have rested and am determined to do this walk for charity! Right now theres a heatwave where I am in Ireland but it’s to get cooler just in time! 🍃

I will share my progress on my fundraiser dashboard and I’ll also figure out how to pin this blog post to my websites homepage so that it’s at the forefront as I’m not sure if its bots but my home page gets a lot of views 🤯🤣 and with that we can raise this money for the society! Lets do this!! If you’re able, I encourage you to find a way to get involved too with a fundraiser of your choice, it doesn’t have to be a walk, you hear about coffee fundraisers a lot! ☕️ Right, I’m ready and would very much appreciate your support 🫶🏽 you guys are the best so I already know I have it 😏🤣.

Click here to donate if you don’t wanna scroll all the way back up! I plan on kicking of the 1st of June with a walk and then we’ll take it from there but I have no doubts that we can make this happen! 💪 Screw cancer! My pup, Nina, agrees and said the very same thing herself for this posts main image (Okay, that’s the closest I’ve ever gotten to swearing on the blog and it felt good 🤣).

I hope this post finds you on a good day, things can only go up from here ✨️. Thank you for taking time out of your day to read this! And thank you to the Irish Cancer Society for doing what they do. Take care, stay safe and buh-bye! 💕
