World Cup Woes ⚽️

Hi everyone! 👋 I guess it ain’t coming home huh? 🫤 (can I even say that when Irelands been my home for the past 21 years? 😂). I’m just gonna jump forward and admit that I had the title for this blog post planned weeks in advance 🫣…I didn’t mean to make England lose by manifesting it in some sort of way, I swear 🙌🤣.

This last month or so, I have been invested in watching The World Cup and I have been really enjoying myself and have stayed up until early hours to tune in (4:30am at one point!). It’s felt different this year and our whole family have just been so involved. My dad, who is normally the only one in the house watching football has been really excited too and it’s been all we can talk about – even games where England are not playing.

I’m not gonna lie and say I understand all of whats going on (somebody please point me in the direction of where best explains what offside means because I cheered so many times only to find out the goals didn’t count 🙈😂). My sister and I only ever watch football when it’s a world cup and even then we’d be biased and just watch England together. This year tho, we are watching a lot of different teams and it’s been so much fun guessing who will go through!

I know it’s not over yet but I’m wired and tired so this post is going up now! 🫡 Is this me checking out from the football scene? I don’t know, I’m tempted to find a team I support and follow them. I’ll be missing the first half of the World Cup final on Sunday but you better believe I’ll watch the rest as soon as I can!! ☺️

What about you? What are your thoughts on football? It’s definitely grown on me but I don’t know if that was only because there was an undercurrent of the possibility of England winning – I hope it’s not that as I still want to enjoy it – we’ll see!). Who were/are you supporting?

I want Spain to win now 🇪🇸 as Cucurella’s partner was on Married To The Game and I really enjoyed that (yep I’m only connected to stuff if it’s Reality TV related 🫠🤣).

I’ve gotta go now but I’ve got some exciting content coming out within the next few weeks (yeah I’ve been slacking a bit on YouTube but I did upload a video the day before yesterday about journaling so yay!! 😅 HERE it is). Life has been hectic but I’m trying to create a balance before something else comes along and I can’t wait to write about that when it comes to fruition ✨️✨️✨️.

  1. Congrats on England winning third place, though! I know it’s not the cup, but at least they won something, right?! I have no loyalties at this point. It was fun to watch Canada for a bit and to see how far they went was amazing, but I’m definitely not a football girly!

    1. Thanks and yeah they tried their best that last time. Haha 🤣 I don’t know if I am a football person or if I’m just always looking for new things to be obsessed with! It was a good world cup, I loved staying up at night watching the games. Imagine where we’ll all be in 4 years time when it next comes round! ✨️✨️

  2. I LOVE THE WORLD CUP!!

    i’ve been a fan since 2018. after watching that for the first time, i decided i wanted to be a footballer xD (but i never really did anything to work towards that, except buy a football and tell my friends i wanted to BE a footballer ahah)

    i want spain to win too!! they’re incredible. and i think they’re totally going to bring that win home.

  3. I don’t watch soccer (aka. Football) but I did watch the game with my husband at a pub the other day. It was England against Spain and my husband wore his England shirt to support “his team.” He’s not even English. 😂

    One thing I noticed was how everyone came together to show support and cheer for the game, despite some people being on the opposing side. There was one table near us where both people were cheering for opposite teams. 😭🤣

    There were no riots, no obnoxious behaviour, no extremely loud rowdy crowds. Everyone was behaved and it was nice to see. I came prepared with earplugs and an escape if it got bad, but it never did.

    1. Ahh haha I love that, when you have your team its so easy to get invested in the game and feel a sense of pride!!
      I’d be so scared to cheer beside an opposing team tbh, I’m in Paris right now and france place england tonight so I hope we dont get too excited and cheer loud if england score!! 🤣
      Thats so lovely, sport can either go one of two ways, it can being people together or seemingly divide but it can be so magical if a love for the overall game is kept in heart and mind 💫 (god i never thought id talk about football like that! 😂)

        I hope you have a wonderful time in Paris! I was there once for a school trip, and would love to go back. Haha I understand — that would be a bit awkward. But given how loud the cheering is, I don’t they’ll notice you cheering a little “too loud.” 😂🤣

  4. That took me a second. For a second I thought you meant American football 😅 You do mean American soccer, right?
    Anyway, I don’t care to much for sports really at all. I have always preferred preforming arts.

Ahh haha 🤣 Yeah it can be confusing, I don’t know if its the British side of me or that I live in Ireland but we know it as football but when it comes to thinking about America I would have to remind myself to say soccer! 😂 ooh is that like theatre? I’ve never been into sport but something about this year got me. Maybe its all the extra advertising for the world cup or something! ⚽️

  5. I could not pick a team,I just loved every bit of it.I wanted to give everyone a chance.The newbies and the dark horses like Norway.For me,this world cup delivered compared to the 2022 Qatar.

    1. With every match I tried to latch onto a team I wanted to win and it got harder when my favs would come face to face! 🤣 Yeah I agree, Norway were definitely dark horses. I remember the 2022 Cup vaguely but this has got to be the first one were I’ve been invested!! ⚽️
