Hi everyone! How are you today? π I’m hiding nothing with the title of this blog post am I? π€£ Thats right, we raised β¬100 for The Irish Cancer Society!! π₯³
The goal was to walk 30km in June but I accidentally selected 30 miles instead!! Nevertheless I ended up doing 22miles (I could have sworn I did less but thats what my fundraising page says so I won’t question it! π ). Thats 35km and I can’t quite believe it. Until just this second I thought I had failed but checking and realising thats not true feels magical π₯Ή that is if the whole “miles” thing can be ignored! The aim was to raise β¬300 which did not happen as I had no idea what to set as my goal, I’m new to raising money for charity, spare me π. Now that I think about it, failure is probably the wrong word to use as theres no failing when it comes to raising money for charity, every penny helps!
Early on I learned that β¬30 can help provide transport for a patient to and from their chemotherapy treatment using the Irish Cancer Societyβs Transport Service, while β¬65 will help pay for the cost of one hour of Night Nursing, providing end of life care to a patient in their own home. Together, we basically paid for both of those π.
Walking in June was difficult at times and I went a long spate when I couldn’t do it due to chronic pain but we made it to the finish line! I’m grateful the heat wave is happening now and not then when I was in the thick of it! I will never forgot the day I began walking and my mum held up her diary and it said ‘GO LUCY!!’ in big letters π₯Ή it makes me want to do it all over again! (My problem is that I don’t know when to stop π€£ but I suppose thats a good outlook at the best of times! π«).
Well done to everyone who took part, whether you were walking too or donating, I really appreciated your help and the support you sent my way. I couldn’t have done it without you!! π€β¨οΈ A total of β¬150,955 was raised for The Irish Cancer Society which is incredible and I hope it helps many people π«Άπ½π«Άπ½π«Άπ½.
Lets go forward and keep on trying to do better than we did yesterday – as opposed to trying to be the best overall (that’s the quote I shared on my Instagram story yesterday! I love sharing quotes. How come I can get into a habit of picking a quote for the next day before I go to sleep but I can’t tackle a better sleep schedule? I will never know π€£).
Anyway! We shall celebrate with a mocktail πΉ(gotta differentiate from our coffee chats somehow! π). We did good, fam!! ππ Onwards and upwards β¨οΈ.
Thank you for being there and taking the time to look back on one hell of a journey, I hope you have a great weekend and an even better week! βοΈπ₯΅π€£ Take care, stay safe and buh-bye π.
