Dreams Of The Fallen – Book Review!

Welcome! 🫢🏽 Are you ready to dive into something way bigger than the two of us could ever imagine?? Yep thats right, its a book where a whole world has been built and I can’t even believe I knew nothing about it before I started reading (well thats generally how it works, Lucy πŸ™„πŸ€£). I’m talking about Dreams Of The Fallen by A S Colworth, a book I was given for free in exchange for an honest review! πŸ“–

I went into this with no expectations although I was aware that there is a prequel novella out as I received an email about that so I thought: oooh if this is good then there’s more!! πŸ˜‹πŸ€£ (By the way, that’s called Empires End!). Let me just treat this like you’ve never even heard of Dreams Of The Fallen, even if you have! 🀫 Here’s the summary of the book:

Echoes of the past are causing ripples.

Luminous exists in the shadows of its former greatness. The Red Empire once extended its reach far and wide, wielding powerful artefacts to irrevocably alter the world. In the blink of an eye, it crumbled into nothingness when they dared play god.

In the ancient city of Amira, forced into the shadows by a life she has no memory of, Dela prepares to flee.

A dark secret ties her to the old world, a secret that has torn her from her home and sown seeds of fear and mistrust amongst those she once called friends.

The secrets of the past are yet to be set to rest. She is no hero. She did not choose this path, but the mark of a time long forgotten is branded on her very skin.

Dela’s home is no longer safe under the close watch of the secretive and cunning Elders. She has a secret, one that connects her to the old world.

Soooo what do you think of the sound of it? I was super intrigued and ready to go all in and get invested ❀️‍πŸ”₯. I got started with Dreams Of The Fallen and I loved how easy it was to get lost in the story and that I didn’t have to read the other book first. I enjoyed reading from the 3 characters different perspectives and that never happens for me, I think it was the authors style of writing that drew me in and held me captive to the story. It made me form a connection with each of the characters and even though I wish I could have learned a bit more about them, I think thats just personal choice and enough was said to keep the story going.

One thing I will say is that I kept forgetting what was happening but I would go back and figure things out before returning to my point in the book! (My kindle got a working out πŸ’ͺπŸ˜‚). I liked how thoughts of the characters were woven in so you could get that little extra nugget of who they are as people (even though they’re not all human, can I say people??).

The world building was insane. How is it possible to create such a thing? The history that had been interwoven was immaculate and I liked how it impacted each of the characters life’s and created a place that felt so believable. A S Colworth is very good at setting a scene, I could see it all in my mind!! 🀯 Its been a while since a book has done that for me. I was looking forward to seeing how it would end, one of the plot twists leading up to it was a tad predictable but it didn’t take away from the fact that this was a quality fantasy book.

Lets cut to the chase, I think I’m obsessed with this world now 🫒. I could feel it as I was reading and I didn’t want it to end so Empires End here I come! πŸƒβ€β™€οΈ (I already had it downloaded long before I finished 🫣🀣).

If you would like to read Dreams of The Fallen then let it be known that it’s free on Kindle Unlimited!! Head to the comments to share whether or not you do as I’d love to know if this book ends up having an impact on you like it did with me! ☺️

I’ve gotta go now but I’ll see you again real soon but I hope you enjoyed this review! πŸ‘‹ Take care, stay safe and buh-bye! βœ¨οΈπŸ’—

  1. I’m really in awe of writers with amazing world building skills, that is not easy to do whatsoever. Sounds really interesting, thanks for sharing your thoughts on the book! πŸ˜ŠπŸ’•
