Movies & Series I’ve watched recently! #4 😬

Hi everyone! How are you? 💗 Today’s post has been a long time in the making. I can just about remember what I was going to say about these movies and series, thank goodness 😂 but I started typing this post months ago. I can’t wait to start a fresh post of what I’ve been watching but before that we need to talk about all of this stuff! So let’s do it 👏. Here’s some of what I watched in the last few months! 🍿 From the really bad to the extremely good! 😬

• Five Nights at Freddy’s

A troubled security guard begins working at Freddy Fazbear’s Pizzeria. While spending his first night on the job, he realizes the late shift at Freddy’s won’t be so easy to make it through.

I don’t mean to be rude but this was rubbish….okay that was harsh 😅 but I’m sorry, it’s true! This film did nothing for me. I think after watching so many people play Security Breach and thinking that it’s such a good game I was expecting more from the movie. Yes I’m aware that the movie wasn’t about that particular game but as a franchise it should meet up to all that it puts out and I was just left feeling disappointed. I wouldn’t recommend this film, nothing big happened, it was just a waste of time.

• All of Us Are Dead

Trapped students must escape their high school which has become ground zero for a zombie virus outbreak.

I loved this!! I took a long break halfway through as I just stopped watching Netflix but then I returned. At first I got into it around the same time as Squid Game season 1 and it kept on surprising me which was nice. I accidentally read the plot of the last episode and had a hint of what was to come 😅 but then I forgot what I saw so thats good (thank you memory 🙌🤣). I was so scared whenever I watched this series but I couldn’t stop watching! I really don’t like the opening scene were all those zombies are writhing around each other as it freaks me out but once I’m past that I’m hooked. When it ended and it said there is going to be another season I was so happy!! (It took over from the sadness of it ending 🤣). I wasn’t sure if I was pleased with the ending or not but hopefully season 2 changes that confusion!

• Geek Girl

Awkward teen Harriet strives to fit in, then she gets scouted by a top London model agent and learns that some people are meant to stand out.

I enjoyed this way more than I thought I would and was sad to see it come to an end! It had a nice carefree air to it and I was always intrigued to see what happened next. I recently finished reading Meat Market by Juno Dawson which focused on modeling and I couldn’t stop thinking of that whilst I watched it (I would for sure recommend that book!).

• Sweet Home

As humans turn into savage monsters, one troubled teenager and his neighbours fight to survive and to hold onto their humanity.

Apparently I like watching films where humans turn into monsters if this post is anything to go by 😂. This series was hectic but I couldn’t stop watching it!! I had forgotten what happened in the first two episodes and I took a long gap so I went back and watched them again (its one of those series where that didnt feel annoying, it gets better each time!). This was very gruesome! It started out with such a different vibe, it was quirky and then dark and then a combo of the two. They kept playing Warrior’s by Imagine Dragons so it’s stuck in my head now 🤣. I finished season 1 and can’t wait to get into season 2! I think I might have to wait tho as I’m considering getting my mum into it so I’ll have to start all over again, but I don’t mind, I like it that much!

• The 8 Show

Eight individuals trapped in a mysterious eight-story building participate in a tempting but dangerous game-show where they earn money as time passes.

The description of this being about a deadly game show got me thinking about Squid Game so I thought I’d try it out! It’s very quirky but I was intrigued to see where it went. Then it all went wrong. The 8 show was a huge disappointment. It was like they were trying to make something that would be it’s own version of Squid Game (even tho the story was different) but it just didn’t work out. I got bored of it and didn’t end up finishing it.

• The Midnight Club

At a manor with a mysterious history, eight members of the Midnight Club meet each night at midnight to tell sinister stories — and to look for signs of the supernatural from the beyond.

The jumpscares in this are next level! It’s something I’ve surprised myself with watching as I don’t normally go for scary shows but I’m glad I gave this a chance! I watched episode one and then went away from it so I forgot what happened as per usual 😂 and had to watch it again. I was really unsure about whether or not I would enjoy it but once I started I couldn’t stop!! Except when I had to of course (breaks for food and sleep are important things 🤣). I love when they act out the stories they tell, the cast are all great! This was actually the last thing on this list I watched but I like to switch things up around here! I’m considering getting my mum into this too 🤔. No spoilers please as I’ve not finished it yet!

• Dead To Me

Jen’s husband recently died in a hit-and-run, and the sardonic widow is determined to solve the crime. Optimistic free spirit Judy has recently suffered a tragic loss of her own. The ladies meet at a support group and, despite their polar-opposite personalities, become unlikely friends. As the women bond over bottles of wine and a shared affinity for “The Facts of Life,” Judy tries to shield Jen from a shocking secret that could destroy her life as she knows it.

My sister recommended this to me and the ending of the first episode had me hooked! I missed the next two episodes (long story) but I got clued into what had happened and watched on from episode 4 with my mum and sis. We binged the entire rest of the first season and it was sooo good!! I think this is something we’ll carry on watching the next time we’re away (same as Fake Profile down below!). It just has holiday vibes for some reason!

• Coma

Devoted family man Simon finds himself at a breaking point as his neighbourhood falls victim to the terrorising behaviour of a group of teenagers, led by menacing 17-year-old Jordan and his questionable companions.

This was something my mum and dad had seen and wanted my sister and I to watch so we did and it was fantastic! It just kept getting better and better and I recall really enjoying it at the time.

• Wicked

Misunderstood because of her green skin, a young woman named Elphaba forges an unlikely but profound friendship with Glinda, a student with an unflinching desire for popularity. Following an encounter with the Wizard of Oz, their relationship soon reaches a crossroad as their lives begin to take very different paths.

We watched Wicked when we went away! My sister bought it on amazon which I was surprised was possible as it was still in the cinema at the time! 🤯 I’ll just get straight to it…I loved it! It was good for that moment in time and I enjoyed watching it but it’s not something I would watch again if you get what I mean? I used to own the book but I was so young that I either couldn’t get into it or I didn’t fully give it a chance, its either: one, the other or a healthy combo of the two 🤣.

• Fake Profile

Camila meets her Prince Charming through a dating app; after an idyllic romance, she makes plans to surprise him, only to end up trapped in paradise.

This is for older viewers people! 😅 The storyline with this show almost lost me but I kept on wanting to know what would happen next. We didn’t end up finishing it but I hope we do one day. We binge-watched a load of episodes and kept on getting shocked! 🤣 It’s another one to carry on watching the next time we are away!

• Cassandra

A family moves into the oldest smart home in Germany, decades after the original owner dies; the AI household helper awakens, and is resolved to never be alone again.

This was recommended on Netflix and my mum and I immediately got into watching it! It was absolutely brilliant although the ending was a bit lackluster. I really enjoyed the rest of it tho! The idea was so well thought out and you could almost imagine it being a true story. My mum keeps asking me if there’s anything else like Cassandra so if you guys know then please clue me in! 🤣 I keep going around singing the “Guten Morgen” song 🤣.

• Squid Game season 2

Hundreds of cash-strapped contestants accept an invitation to compete in children’s games for a tempting prize, but the stakes are deadly.

I don’t know what to think of season 2 of Squid Games, I think it’s one of those things where the first season was so good that nothing could possibly touch that. I think they could have done so much more with season 2 but at the same time, I would watch it again so that’s where the not knowing what to think comes from 🤣. I’m a mega Squid Game fan tho so I can’t wait for season 3 but I’m gonna have to I guess! 🤭😂 T.O.P was brilliant as Thanos! Plus, I just googled “Squid Game Season 2” and a game popped up where you play Red Light, Green Light!! It was really fun 😄 try it out if you haven’t already!

And there we have it! The good and the not so good. I think this was my most varied edition to this series of posts so far! If you made it this far into the post then leave a 🎭 emoji in the comments, you’re a real one!

I’ve gotta go now but I’d love to know what you’re watching at the moment and whether or not you’d recommend it! Let me know 🍿. I’ll see you around, I hope you have a good day/night, stay safe, take care and buh-bye! ✨️

  1. You’ve watched a good variety of shows and movies recently! I did see Five Nights at Freddy’s in theaters and I thought it was fine, but it was nothing to write home about. Also, The Midnight Club is a great series! I haven’t season 2 of Squid Game yet, but I agree it would be hard to top the first season.
