Hi everyone! How are you doing? Ready for a festive, bookish post? I know I am! π So far this year I’ve read four festive books, all on Kindle Unlimited and I can’t wait tell you about them! One was creepy and I feel at odds including it but it was festive all the same and I did enjoy it so that’ll be thrown in the mix as well π π€£. One was emotional and the other two were audiobooks. Let me tell you all about them!
For starters I listened to Resting Scrooge Face by Meghan Quinn! It’s been years since I last utilised the audiobook ability of my kindle but I found my Bluetooth headphones (as my kindle doesn’t have an audio jack) and decided on give this first book a go and let me just tell you, I really enjoyed it! And not majorly because of the storyline but because of the narrators, they really made it!! I looked them up though the time to find more books read by them, they were Carlie Robins and Aaron Shedlock. Their voice acting made it feel like I was watching a Christmas movie and I loved that! I can’t remember how the story finished but it was a nice relaxing book to listen to!
Moving on I read The Gift by Freida McFadden and oh boy, it was certainly a treat π€£. I was intrigued to see where this one went as I could tell it would be good and I literally gasped at the ending! You’ve got to read this! It’s the creepy one I was telling you about but don’t let that deter you, I was on the edge of my seat…or my bed as I’m mostly a night reader, and I couldn’t for the life of me put it down. I like a book where you can’t predict the ending (I guess everyone does π) and The Gift could not have taken me more by surprise in that department!
Next up I moved onto the audiobook of Holiday Hideaway by Mary Kay Andrews and this was a story where I wanted to find out what would happen next because the main character was camping out in somebody’s attic! Like, you can’t write that stuff…oh wait, you can! π€£ This was a fun read and I liked the characters, definitely one to check out!
Last but by no means least is the emotional read, The Christmas Pact by Hayley Anderton! This was emotional in a nice way, it’s the ending that got me and it was very meaningful. It didn’t go in the direction I expected it to which I realised at the time was really nice because that would have been so clichΓ©. It’s about two friends who decide to create a festive bucket list after a horrible event and I enjoyed it very much!
There are a lot of Christmas books I’m still planning on reading before the big day itself, including: The Christmas Book Hunt by Jenny Colgan, The Under The Mistletoe Collection and the Entitled Love Novellas collection as well as hopefully some longer ones but we’ll see! I’m really enjoying myself π.
What about you, have you read any festive books this year? Any recommendations?
I’ll be back again before Christmas with another post so keep your eyes peeled for that! I know I should say a date but you’ll understand when you see it. Maybe Sunday! I’ll try my best π. I hope you’re well and that you’re having a nice time of year, even if you don’t celebrate Christmas. I’ll see you again soon but until then, take care. Buh-bye! π
I havenβt thought of reading any holiday themed books but now you make me want too
