Making Soap! πŸ―πŸ‹

Hi! Welcome to my lil shred of the internet πŸ₯°. I’m not gonna beat around the bushes here, let’s get straight to the topic 🀣. So yesterday I made soap using a kit I got and I’ve been eager ever since to show you guys how it went/turned out! I’ve never made soap before this and I was looking for a fun and easy craft to do which was exactly what this was. Here goes everything!

So, the kit came with an instruction booklet, white soap base (which was two blocks of a soapy substance), soap moulds, a pipette (which was very fun to use for some reason, I felt like a scientist! πŸ˜‚) and a stirring stick.

It didn’t come with any essential oils but luckily I had some I got given as a gift a couple of years ago (must be extra pungent now πŸ˜…) so I used those!

To start out I placed 100g of the soap base into a heat safe container and melted it in the microwave in short bursts of 10-15 seconds until it was liquid. Then I poured a little bit of that into my mould of choice before using the pipette to add some lavender essential oil to the rest of the mixture in the container. I don’t know why the first lot didn’t need to have the essence in it but I just went by the rules, I think it was so as to create a first layer in the mould tho.

Next it said to add lavender floral buds but I didn’t have anything to hand so I just skipped that bit. Moving on, the instructions said to spray rubbing alcohol onto the top of the soap but I don’t have rubbing alcohol so I used a bit of hand sanitizer which i think contributed to a lil bit of separation between the layers but oh well, what am I gonna do about that now πŸ€·πŸ½β€β™€οΈπŸ€£. I then poured in the rest of the liquid into my chosen mould.

At this point I decided to make another little bar of soap in the beeswax shaped mould (is that what it is?) because there was 50g of the soap base left. I ignored instructions because the booklet said for this to be a soap with oats in it and I settled on the idea of a honey and lemon soap instead! πŸ―πŸ‹ I followed the same steps above but I added honey and a rather generous dash of lemon essential oil to the mixture before pouring it into the mould.

Then I had to wait for 3 hours so that made the time up to be 8-8:15pm and it was torture I tell you and my mum tried to touch it whilst it was still hardening! πŸ™„πŸ€£ But here is the finished result:

They smell so damn good!!! I went a bit overboard on adding the lemon essential oil but more is better than less I suppose πŸ˜‚. The lemon and honey one looks a bit crushed from when I removed it from the mould but that’s okay, it’s going to be used anyway so will end up out of shape given time.

All in all I’m very happy with how they turned out! What do you guys think? Have you made soap before? I know that this was a highly simplified way of making it but I really wanna make some more!! Imma look around for stuff to do it as I used all the soap base up.

Right, I’m off! It’s been real 🀣. I never feel like I’m just talking to myself on here, it’s like I can hear you guys along the way….okay that sounds scary so we’ll leave it there! 🀣 I’ll see you again next week but until then I hope you are doing well and am sending good vibes your way! Buh-bye βœ¨οΈπŸ’—
