Meet Sim and her kittens! ๐Ÿ˜บ

Hi everyone! I hope you’re well and having or have had a lovely day! ๐Ÿ’— Today’s post is something very exciting!! So around 4 weeks ago now we met a stray cat in our garden and named her Sim (Simmy/Simba) and she didn’t get on with our cat Coco very well but they tolerated each other. We noticed that Sim had a swollen belly so we knew she’d either just had kittens or was at that moment pregnant with them. Time passed and we quickly formed a bond with her, she loves a fuss and the food that we feed her! She’s very affectionate and loving.

Then the other morning my dad went out to check on her as she’d taken to sleeping in a cat bed in our greenhouse and he came running back in saying there was a kitten with her! And then throughout the day she gradually went to the back of our garden and carried down more kittens by the scruffs of their necks. They are all now living in our greenhouse and we are doing our best to keep it at a cool temperature in there for them (*UPDATE: They are now outside in a kennel house which is way cooler for them! ๐Ÿƒ).

Look at Sims bottom lip! ๐Ÿ˜—๐Ÿคฃ

It’s so nice that she scoped out the situation through sleeping in the greenhouse for a few nights by herself to see if it would be safe for her babies and that she trusted us to meet them!! Now, we are still taking care of Sim as she is very weak having to feed all four of her babies (they are around 3-4 weeks old). We’ve recently started feeding her kitten food as apparently its got a lot of nutrients in it for mothers too. The kittens themselves aren’t really interested in it when we softened it down for them but we’ll keep an eye on them with that (we can’t help it, they’re just so adorable!). *Update: we’ve started feeding the kittens too! It’s very gradual and still early days but it’s going well!

We don’t spend all of our time with them as we want to give them space and for Sim to continue to trust us. We are in contact with a shelter and they have advised us to bring in the kittens when they are older (we won’t be separating them from their mother until they are old enough so it doesn’t cause trauma). This way they can go to safe homes and we’ll be keeping Simba, but until then they are lounging in their house.

What do you think we should name them? Any ideas are welcome! We probably won’t be properly naming them so as not to become attached but for the fun of it let’s throw about some ideas! When we thought it was just one kitten I came up with the name Bam, short for Bammy, BamBam which I still like ๐Ÿ˜‚.

Do you have cats? I never thought I was much of a cat person until Coco our main cat walked into our lives and now Sim too. Before that we had Bertha and Skirtsey (what is it with these names? ๐Ÿคฃ). Oh and before I forget, please let me know if you’ve got any tips on caring for kittens without hampering their dependence on their mum as we don’t want to break that bond.

Anyway! Thanks for checking out my post ๐Ÿ˜‰ it means a lot and I hope you enjoyed looking at the cute kittens and their mama! Here’s a pic of Coco stealing my chair to end the post, buh-bye! Xx

  1. Oh so cute! I have a hairy floof. Sheโ€™s turning 5 in the fall. Itโ€™s a ragdoll. More known by being a mischievous troll ๐Ÿ˜‚.

      1. Oh, everything. Opens doors, gets up to the tv and scratches it and screams her throat out when we donโ€™t get her what she wants.
