Mistakes of a bookworm! πŸ“š

Hi, hello and hey to the people that brighten up my day! 🫢 In this week’s post I thought it would be both fun and interesting to look at the mistakes of a bookworm! These are my own personal mishaps but perhaps you can relate and even add some of your own! πŸ’Œ A part of me feels like I’ve done this post before but we’ll just ignore that shall we? 🀣 I hope I haven’t! Now, let’s gown down to the nitty gritty and share the mistakes of a bookworm, starting with…

Reading more than one book at a time!

Guilty as charged! πŸ™ˆ I’m reading loads of books at the moment. I can never seem to stick with one alone but I’m really trying to as I keep forgetting what’s going on otherwise πŸ˜‚. When there are so many good books, sometimes it can’t be helped tho! πŸ€·πŸ½β€β™€οΈ A couple of months ago I got a massive haul of books which I shared over on my Instagram and alongside those I have way too many books checked out from the library (it became a problem when my parents let me use their library cards too but I’m trying to fix it i swear! 🀣). How many books do you read at once? Over on Insta the answer I keep getting is that people stick with one at a time, I wish I could do that too! πŸ™Œ

Adding a gazillion books to your TBR!

My To Be Read list is just a fancy way of saying my amazon wishlist at this point as I just keep adding books when I come across them to that πŸ˜…πŸ€£. I think having loads of books on your TBR and trying to bulldoze your way through them is just one of the many ways of a bookworm! There is a world full of books waiting to be explored and when you come across some of those gems it can be so difficult to hold back from adding them to a seemingly never-ending list 🫣. Does your TBR go way back or do you tackle it head on and gradually remove some of the books like I’ve seen some other bloggers do?

Being a slow reader! 🐌

I’m like the sloth of slow reading I tell you! 🀣 There was a time when I was so much quicker at taking in information so I don’t know if its my meds or something but I’ve changed so damn much 😩. I remember the days when I used to get through a book a day and I know it’s not a competition or anything and that taking your time to enjoy a read is what matters but how slow I am is literally unreal. As the weather’s gotten nicer I’ve taken to sitting outside to not only write but read as well. It’s so nice being out in fresh air especially if I remember sun lotion but I sit in the shade anyway 🀣. What about you, are you a slow reader like me, an in-between or a fast reader like I hope to one day be again?

Buying too many books!

And also maxing out your library card too πŸ™ˆ (god, reality is setting in that this is bad 🀣). I can’t seem to help myself or more so stop myself from buying books whether they be second-hand or new. There was a last purchase in The Works where I got 3 more books and I won’t say which ones they were but I’m yet to pick them up and I still regret it 🀣. My mum and I had just gone shopping and I was wheeling the trolly back in so I went back and got these books that I’d already convinced myself not to get and it was just all kinds of wrong, I should have stood my ground! Oh well, maybe they’ll turn out to be really good and that regret will wash away. I sure hope so anyway! πŸ₯² Do you have a book buying ban or are you an avid book shopper? I’m dying to know πŸ€”.

Judging books by their cover!

This can make you see a book in a good way or in a bad way. I’ve bought many a book based purely on the cover and I’ve also avoided some thanks to the cover altho with some bad covers I have been known to give a book a chance regardless depending on the blurb. Sometimes I feel sorry for a book I’ve the covers rubbish too 🀣 or occasionally a book with a stunning cover turns out to be boring and you wonder how it got that tempting cover in the first place! 🀯 What do you think? Do you judge books based upon their cover or not?

This was so much fun to do!! And I’m sure there are loads more bookworm mistakes so feel free to share yours in the comments! πŸ’–

I don’t know, do you think us bookworms are too hard on ourselves? Looking back I kinda think I am on the whole reading slowly and more than one book at a time thing. Hmm I’ll work on that! ☺️ At the end of the day it’s all for the love of books am I right?!! πŸ˜πŸ“š

I’ll see you lovely lot again next week but until then, I hope you keep well and that your life is filled with amazing reads ✨️. Sending loads of love your way, Buh-bye! πŸ’—xx

  1. It’s so coincidental because I mentioned mistake #1 on my recent post, but for the opposite reason. My attention span is horrible and I can’t bring myself to read more than one book at a time. πŸ˜€

As a visual person, I’m definitely guilty of judging books by their covers. I see a pretty cover and immediately want to check it out without reading reviews first. 😭

Such a fun post, Elsie!! ❀ New follower. πŸ™‚

    1. You’re the first person that has said that to me after I mentioned over on Instagram that I read more than one at a time, glad I’m not the only one!! πŸ™ŒπŸ€£

  2. I’m not a bookworm, but I sure wish I was. I read so fast that I understand maybe 5 -10% of what I read, but I still read books again. I have an upcoming blog post for next week where I share how I do it.

Great read, btw! I’d like some more, please πŸ™

  3. I’m guilty of almost all of these 🀣 I cleaned out my tbr a few months a go (I just got rid of the books on there that I didn’t want to read anymore) but now it’s back up to around 70…
