Movies I’ve watched recently! 🍿

Hi everyone! Welcome back to my little corner of the internet, make yourself nice and at home because this post is gonna be a cosy one! ✨️ So! A couple of weeks ago I reserved a load of dvds at my local library, it’s amazing how they get new films in and I was super excited to pick them up!! I think I’m a bit obsessed with the library tbh 🤣. Today I thought it would be fun to share my thoughts on the movies I watched so let’s get right into it! Starting with…..

Turning Red

Disney and Pixar’s Turning Red introduces Mei Lee, a confident, dorky 13-year-old torn between staying her mother’s dutiful daughter and the chaos of adolescence. Her protective, if not slightly overbearing mother, Ming, is never far from her daughter—an unfortunate reality for the teenager. And as if changes to her interests, relationships and body weren’t enough, whenever she gets too excited, she “poofs” into a giant red panda!

This was really enjoyable!! Everything about it was just so good. I do like a good pixar movie and I absolutely loved that Disney created a boy band too, it was so funny!

Cruella

Emma Stone stars as one of cinema’s most notorious and stylish villains, Cruella de Vil. Determined to become a successful fashion designer, a creative young grifter named Estella (Stone) teams with a pair of mischievous thieves to survive on the London streets. But when her flair for fashion catches the eye of the legendary designer Baroness von Hellman (Emma Thompson), Estella rises to become the raucous, revenge-bent “Cruella.”

This started off slow but then it picked up. They used such good music in it and I loved the storyline behind who Cruella is and what led her to be that way. I’d for sure watch this again!!

Elemental

Disney and Pixar’s Elemental is an original feature film set in Element City where Fire, Water, Earth and Air residents live together. The story introduces Ember, a tough, quick-witted and fiery young woman whose friendship with a fun, sappy, go-with-the-flow guy named Wade challenges her beliefs about the world they live in.

This was not how I expected it to be at all. I think I had Inside Out on my mind but this was totally different. Either way it was a good film but it didn’t get me emotional at the end like they were expecting 🙈🤣.

The Little Mermaid (2023 edition)

In this breathtaking live-action reimagining of the beloved animated musical classic, a spirited young mermaid must follow her heart. She makes a deal with an evil sea witch that allows her to experience life on land, but that ultimately puts her life in jeopardy.

I really enjoyed this! Halle Bailey made the perfect Ariel and the whole film was designed beautifully. It all looked so real under the sea!

Lightyear

Disney and Pixar’s “Lightyear”— the definitive origin story of Buzz Lightyear (voice of Chris Evans), the hero who inspired the toy — follows the legendary Space Ranger on an intergalactic adventure, alongside a group of ambitious recruits, and his robot companion Sox.

I enjoyed this more than I thought I would but it wasn’t the best. I do think it was a good story behind who buzz lightyear is though.

Ruby Gillman, Teenage kraken

Discover the hero just beneth the surface.

Dive into the turbulent waters of high school with this heartwarming action comedy about a shy teenager who discovers that she’s part of a legendary royal lineage of mythical sea krakens and that her destiny, in the depths of the oceans, is bigger than she ever dreamed. Learning to be an all-powerful sea creature while hiding among humans is hard enough for Ruby, but to make matters worse, her super popular new bestie, Chelsea, is secretly a mermaid! Mermaids have been battling the krakens for eons to rule the ocean, but Chelsea has come to land to finally put an end to that conflict. However, when Chelsea double-crosses her, Ruby will ultimately need to embrace who she is and GO BIG to protect those she loves most.

This was very fast paced but I really liked it. It was like a breath of fresh air!

And there we have it! Out of them all I’d say I liked Turning Red the most 🙌. Have you seen any of these movies?? Are there any new films that you think I should check out?? I’m all ears, if it means another trip to the library then I’m in!! 🤣

I’ll see you all again next week but until then, stay safe, take care and buh-bye! (If you miss me tho you can always head on over to my Instagram HERE 😁🤣). Anywho! Bye!! 👋✨️💕xx
