A blind date with a book! #1

Hello! 👋 Welcome back or to my blog in the fist place if you’re new here! Today it’s time for an exciting blog post, I recently did something I’ve wanted to do for a long time….I got a secret book!! Or in other words I bought a blind date with a book on Etsy (from TheBookBaristaa) which is when you don’t know what book you’re buying but you get the option to pick a genre or be surprised! I chose the genre: Booktok, so books that have trended basically and I had no idea what to expect but let’s have a look at what I got given!

Ignore my Tom & Jerry pyjamas please 🤣. I opted for hot chocolate but also got sent a tea! It was meant to come with an art print and some stickers but it didn’t (except for the ones already stuck on it but oh well!). It did come with a nice smelling incense stick tho! 😍

It was then time to unwrap the parcel (or in my case, rip it open 🤣….

I was given Breaking The Silence by Diane Chamberlain! Here is the summary:

Since the awful day her husband died, Laura Brandon’s little girl hasn’t uttered a word. When a psychiatrist suggests that Emma won’t talk because she’s terrified of men, Laura is guilt-ridden. To help Emma, she needs to know what unspeakable secret lies behind her husband’s suicide.

Laura thought her family was perfect, but her quest leads her to a shocking truth. For her child’s sake, should her father’s sins be kept silent?

At first I’ll admit I was a bit disappointed as its not my normal type of read but then intrigue started to slip in. It sounds like a book my family would enjoy as they’re all into thrillers so I could immediately imagine them reading it after me and us all having a discussion about it afterwards which would be loads of fun.

I think next time I’ll order from the young adult genre as they’re normally books I enjoy the most. I’m glad I did try Booktok tho as I would have kept on wondering otherwise!

So there we have it! After I’ve finished a few other books I’m reading from the library I’m going to give this one a go and I might let you know how I get on with it depending on whether I enjoy it or not!

The question of the day is this: Have you ever bought a blind date with a book?

This is going to be a new series on my blog where I share all of the blind date books I buy so I hope you enjoyed reading about my first ever experience with it! Let me know your thoughts in the comments below!

I’ll see you all again next week but until then, have a wonderful weekend, stay safe, take care and buh-bye! ✨️💕xx

    1. It’s definitely a tricky move putting your trust in someone else to pick a book out for you, the first time I bought a blind date with a book it didn’t go so well. I didn’t have the book already but it just wasn’t a good read so is a risk at times but I’m happy with it this time!
