Using a bullet journal kit to start over again! ✨ My thoughts πŸ€”

Greetings! πŸ–– Hello and welcome to today’s post 😁. I’m very, VERY excited to share it with you because it’s been so long since I last had the journalling bug and felt up to it at the same time (It was December 2020 to be more specific πŸ˜… I replaced the concept with using 4 planners last year which is a wild thought to me now 😱). To get back onto the bujo bandwagon I thought it’d be a neat idea to try out a kit I was given and nothing else! πŸ’« Yep, I limited myself to only a handful of stationery items before I’d even started, just those that came in the kit (I don’t know why I do these things to myself. If it’s been tricky to get back into this, why on earth would I set limits at the first obstacle?? 😢🀣 I’ll never know).

I won’t question what could have gone wrong here because it actually went all kinds of right and I’m pleased with how the spread turned out. This was actually a good way to determine whether or not bujo kits are the way to go for first timers if they’re relying upon the kit alone! 🌟 I might as well be a newbie considering how many times I’ve stopped and started πŸ˜‚. Let us first take a look at the bullet journal kit that got me to this point:

It’s by Script and comes with a pink and yellow, two in one highlighter, a pretty washi tape, three pens that all have a fine liner on one end and a thicker brush-like tip on the other (they’re black, purple and pink) and last but by no means least because I used the life out of it is a stencil full of loads of designs! (Alongside prompts featured within the journal for banner ideas and stuff). It all came in a zip lock wallet that made it look super practical but of course I had to go and accidentally slip the tab off so everything was stuck in the pack! I felt so close to starting and yet so far at the same time 🀣. I managed to pry it open and reattach the tab, more recently the tabs gone missing completely but at least it’s open now…for good πŸ™„ (why is it so impossible to have it all!? πŸ˜‚).

I didn’t have major plans before I saw everything that came with it and then the ideas just started flowing! I decided to save the washi tape until next month (look at me planning ahead πŸ˜πŸ˜‚) as it didn’t tie in with what I had in mind and I also ignored both the purple pen and the highlighters! Oh and did I mention that this was a late start venture? It’s for the last three weeks of April! The motto that kept running through my mind was that it’s never too late to start something you want to do ✨. Things are often up in the air and don’t get to happen because of my chronic illness so when I had an evening where I felt less pain, the bullet journal kit was my first point of interest to finally get back into something I used to enjoy so much! πŸ˜„

I miss getting creative and testing out pages to see if they come in as handy as I think they will. I miss getting lost in drawing something out and using my imagination to put something together (I also like seeing the pages fill up from the side of a notebook for some reason 🀣). Although I kept it fairly simple for the last half of April, I did reignite that passion for journalling. It’s been a fresh start and it didn’t feel wrong cutting short the journey with my old book as that had spreads dating back to the very beginning in April 2020 (which you can see HERE: I had a late to the party theme as my first one πŸŽ‰πŸ˜‚). It felt weird starting over in 2022 with a journal that had a past so it’s good the kit came with a new one! It’s only just crossed my mind that I’m getting back into it a whole two years later, like an anniversary sort of thing – what better time to start?

Anyway, I can’t stop rambling! Moving away from the mega intro, it’s time to dive into bujo in question! First up is the April cover page (I left a few blank pages before that incase I decide to do a bit 2022 sign so don’t be surprised if that finally happens in June or something 🀣).

The font had been on my mind when I’d dedicated a page to scribbles at the back and I was testing out how I’d like each letter to look. All that practicing led to this moment! I outlined the words in fine liner before filling them in with the brush end (the black ink went through the page annoyingly enough but better to know that now so that I don’t end up ruining something later on! πŸ™ŒπŸ€£). The stencil came out to create the overall theme, hearts! Half because the spread was full of love and half because it was an easy look to create 😁.

The hearts carried on into the next page where I decided to put three planner boxes that are each a week long. At this point I started to think it was all looking like playing cards belonging to the queen of hearts hearts ❀️🀣. I was singing 3 Nights by Dominic Fike and because it was a fun moment with my sister (who was probably done with me for resorting to the chorus whenever a line didn’t work out πŸ˜‚) I added in “at the motel” beneath the title 3 Weeks! That’d be a hella long stay at a motel but it wouldn’t have felt right leaving it out so there you go! I’ll show the next two pages together and explain them separately:

I wanted a page for goals that didn’t have to necessarily just be for April. Somewhere I could scribble down things I hope for the future that make me happy to think about 🌠. I kept it simple as what gets added to the page will fill it up and take over anyway and turn into a brain dump sort of thing.

The page I’m the most excited for is the What I watched one as it’ll log down all the shows and movies I crossed paths with, putting them down as yay, nay or an unsure in-between! 🍿 Something that will definitely be making it onto the celebrated side is Moon Knight! I’m obsessed with it and can’t help but think the outside of the museum looks like it’s been torn from Night at the Museum (anyone else think that?). I can’t wait to see where the series goes because I’ve just been spellbound by it 🀩. Here are another two pages with a bit of sunset thrown in for the sake of it – ignore the rain streaked window please 😁 I’m just grateful the sun decided to make an appearance at the end of the day rather than not at all 🀣:

I was excited to add a monthly favourites page (and I’m fully aware the spread doesn’t even feature a full month but I’m hoping I can remember at least a few from before I started it – well I suppose if they’re forgotten then they’re not favourites so there’s always that to stop me getting frustrated over what I cannot recall! 🀣). The page is loaded with hearts and I like how that kind of frames it in from the side. I’m hoping having this section will inspire me to get back into posting monthly favourites on my blog as I used to love writing about that stuff, it was sort of like a memory bank to look back on. Anyway, I can see this page getting pretty full or at least I hope it does! πŸ˜…πŸ˜‚

At the very end I thought a page for manifestations would be a neat way to end things on a high full of hope! I used the stencil to create a heart and then I wrote “Manifest – Make it happen!” ontop of it. Here I’ll jot down things a few times so as to speak them into being ✨. Saying things more and more gives me the belief that they will happen and then I can put action towards it so that it’s not all entirely left to the universe 😏🀣.

So that’s that! The bullet journal kit was an excellent boost in the right direction for getting back into the swing of things and perfect for an uncomplicated spread. I’d for sure recommend bullet journal kits as a way to either start for the first time or ease back into it. I’m loving how it turned out and I can’t put into words how good it feels to have another outlet again! Bullet journaling is just such a relaxing hobby. I’ve found myself thinking about what I’ll do for next month and it’s been nice to let my thoughts be consumed with things like that instead of health worries. It’s like I’ve wanted distractions and even if it takes some time to be able to draw out things, I can just think about them instead and it pulls my mind to a better place. Yay for bullet journals being good for your mental health amiright? I don’t think I’m wrong 😌🀣.

Cheers to the lovely person on the other side of this post! πŸ₯‚ I won’t kid myself into thinking there’s more than one of you because then it’ll come as a nice surprise if there is 🀣. Thank you for reading!

Do you have a bullet journal? If the answer to that question is one big YES then what is your theme for April? I’d love to know so pop it in the comments below!

Wherever you are and whatever your plans are for the day, I hope you are well, that you have magical moments scattered infront of you and that you are able to enjoy it ✨. Stay safe, take care and buh-bye! πŸ’•Xx

  1. So cute!! Somehow, I’ve never been able to get into bullet journaling myself, even though there was a time when my pinterest was flooded with bujo spreads, and I can’t resist reading blog posts where people share their journal ideas! Also, April is such a lovely month to start/restart a hobby (especially one that is as relaxing and positive as journaling) because Spring is well on its way and things are beginning to blossom! Somehow April always feels like a mini new year to me, hahaha! Hope you enjoy bullet journaling through the month! ❀

    1. Thanks Arshia!! πŸ˜† Pinterest has so many good ideas (I’ll save inspiration but then forget to actually look whilst I’m actually drawing the spread 🀣). I love how bujo posts are upbeat and seeing what people choose to do. Yes! It’s lovely having Spring bring along a fresh start vibe and finally seeing blue skies again after a long winter ❄️. Thank you so much, I’m looking forward to sitting back and getting started on May as I feel like I can go bigger with it now I’ve opened the door in April! πŸ˜‚ Hope you have a lovely month! βœ¨πŸ’›

    1. You’re so right, it was nice when the ideas started flowing and I had a plan in mind + set to it! ✨ Ahhh I always think that if you don’t think you’re good at something then it just means your way of doing it is yet to be discovered! πŸ™Œ You’re very kind! Thank you πŸ˜ŠπŸ’•
