My Bullet Journal: December Edition 2020! 🎄

Hello & Welcome! 💞 I’m very excited about today’s post 😄, not that I don’t usually get like this when writing (EVeRy poSt Is a jOy 😲😂), it’s just that I feel like this is a significant moment in my bujo journey 💭. Because this is the first December that I have kept a bullet journal it just so happens to be the time I get to capture festivities artistically and I was so ready for it! 🙌

I put my all into this months theme: Walking in a Winter Wonderland! ❄️ Using a larger variety of paints that my sister gave me for my birthday (she used them to create the Coraline decorations HERE 😍) I just went for it (mostly when I couldn’t sleep so there was some night painting going on 😂🎨).

For once I wasn’t overly cautious about making mistakes, originally this started because I forgot to bring a rubber down with me when I sketched out the designs 🙈. I just went with it and in turn I’ll admit I did meet a few hiccups along the way! Regardless of all that, it looks neat if I do say so myself. Let me show you 👀:

We will start with the theme announcement page! I was initially going to leave this blank and move onto the next page because, well…do you remember my November bee spread? I outlined the very last page of hexagons with orange/red ink and it came through! (Ngl it looked like blood 😬). In the end I didn’t see the point in wasting a page so I instead chose to outline those ink blots with a silver gel pen so as to transform it into snow surrounding a cute snowman! ☃️ This was a Pinterest find so I cannot take credit for that but I did add in snowflakes and glitter glue!

Next up is the month we have found ourselves in (… according to that phrase of speech, we were lost up until now 😂). I carried on using the glitter glue over those snowflakes and truthfully speaking, I actually did this page first when I thought that the previous one was unsalvageable. This was yet another Pinterest feat and it’s nice + simple but effective! ❄️

Moving on I couldn’t leave out a tree or a daily countdown so I combined the two! This one came from my own imagination I SWEAR (giving myself a lil pat on the back there 😌😂). Different shades of green were used and the mind truly boggles at how the paint didn’t go through the page because I layered it on like there was no tomorrow.

To spruce things up I added the lyric “it’s the final countdown” but then I was at a loss on what to do with the rest of the red space (it looked way more like a vast area when it was empty 😂). My sister came up with the idea of carrying on the song so I put loads of gold/bronze “do-do-do-do’s” all over like a chant and I love it! (Ps. Bauble number 1 was coloured in because I took all of these photos on the 2nd! Number two was yet to be shaded because journalling is an evening thing for me 🌙).

This fireplace would have made it onto my October spread because we live in cozy times but when that theme became more of a torn paper thing I held onto hope (and the idea actually as I’m a forgetful thing 😫💭😂) and that’s what got us to this point! Please ignore the faint blue highlighter coming through the page even tho I can do anything but 😌😂. I forgot myself in that moment when I was unsure how I’d arrange the gratitude segment (that word sounds so fancy) but seeing as that was altered to blue paint in the end no more came through 😅.

“All is calm, all is bright” has been my quote this time round despite all that is going on in the world + health wise at the moment because it just makes me all the more grateful to have a roof over my head whilst the chaos ensues both outside and within. The space in-between is one less worry that isn’t taken for granted. The warmth emitted from this painted fire encapsulates and pays homage to the feeling I suppose 💫.

Gratitude was a tricky one, especially after I messed it up with the highlighter. After that I was like: why did you do that?? Guess we’re going to have to carry on with the whole blue thing now 😂. I think I just wanted to jump in as no other ideas fitted into place but then once I carried on with the lines using paint it all seemed to tie in nicely.

The candy canes were a welcomed feature that I couldn’t get out of my head after I thought of them and I outlined each one by just using a normal black pen because I found that my usual Staedler option went through even tho I’m sure it never used to 🤔 (these pages be getting weak as the journal goes on 😂).

Still on the subject of that page, I wanted it to be different from past gratitude layouts and by keeping the line going the whole way across the sheet I think I achieved that! (Its a small change but I’m just grateful I didn’t have to tear the entire page out in a fit of rage tbh 😂). Its a delicate design and I’m pleased with how it turned out!

For mood there is an incredibly detailed snowflake that was Pinterest all the way! ❄️ Although I’m surprised I didn’t resort to printing it out and using tracing paper to get it moderately neat…actually I’m not because I wouldn’t go to the hassle 😅😂.

I wish I hadn’t done my mood page this way because I abandoned what works for me and now I don’t have that part where I can write down emotions + carry those thoughts forward 😕. That’s not to say I’m fully upset with it as it turned out well, it’s just that I’m less inclined to colour in parts of it because I know I won’t get anything from doing that. Ah well, we live and we learn…or at least I thought I had but I’ll try to do better from now on 😂.

Now for an embarrassing fault 😐, I put “scedule” instead of “schedule” 🤦 (spell check was trying not to let me tell you, it’s that shameful 😂). In my defense I did do the majority of this entire spread in the middle of the night 🙌. Yeah I’m a night owl but that’s not to say I’m a literate night owl 😂. What’s worse is that I only just realized when I was looking back in order to know what to write about each page, I didn’t even figure it out when I started to use it or even when I took the bloody picture of it (but at least the font is pretty right? 😂).

The navy blue night sky makes it possible to focus on the blocks coated in glitter snow 😍. I was going to add stars but I thought it would make it messy at the time 🤔, I might still do it! (Sure it’s gone to hell anyway 😂). As is my nature, I changed my mind about a few dates here and there for posts and they got swapped around but all that I wanted to upload are up and that’s what matters 😄. I really do like having a schedule to refer to if only to know what I’ve got to work with in the drafts folder! I’ve since outlined all of the writing with a black glitter pen so that it stands out more too (I think I’ll still be using the glitter in the new year as it just adds something extra to it all 😂).

Rounding things up is my winter bucket list which I recently shared HERE! Back when I took this photo I was unsure of what I wanted to do this season so there was a blank gingerbread fella 😂. I also didn’t know if I’d be sharing this post with you first before that list went up so even though the cookie has since been filled with those plans, I never took a picture again incase it gave the game away 👀 (I think too deep but it made sense at the time 🙌😑). My sister said “Hello Winter my old friend” as a quote suggestion and I ended up also adding in part of a colourful oven glove to finish it off! 🍭

And there we have it 😊. Thank you for reading! 💞 I’m trying to absorb the glow of the Christmas tree and harness that through words (that sounds a bit strange but the thought was there so take it like the gift you never wanted 😂🎁).

I reckon any faults within this edition make it quirky and authentic (in other words, I’m trying my darndest to accept them into the framework 😌😂). Did seeing my bujo make you feel festive? I hope so! If you’re anything like me you’ll be grabbing that feeling in any way, shape or form 🙌. This Christmas is noticably different but what’s important still rings true 💞…I’m not in the mood to list the facts so just assume I have the best intentions at heart 😇😂.

If you also keep a bullet journal I would love to hear about what you did for December! I’m currently deciding what I’ll do for January & sorting through sketches but I’m trying not to leave the festivities behind amidst the planning which always comes to fruition way too late 😌 so in an effort to avoid that happening let’s keep up that Christmas vibe in the comments! 🎅🤶

Seeing as this is my last post before the big day itself I’d like to wish a MERRY CHRISTMAS to you and your loved ones!! 🎄 Enjoy yourselves (clearly this new schedule ain’t stopping for nobody 😂). Hope you enjoyed this post and found it to be a relaxing read! Have a good day (or night! I salute you my fellow owl 🦉) and I’ll see you on the 27th for some more of whatever this was but with a different topic of course 😵😂, Take care ✨❤️.

  1. Oh, how special! This is the cutest set up- it looks so chic and festive. Then there’s that darling gingerbread man! Too perfect. I wouldn’t worry about any little mistakes- they just add to the authenticity of your bullet journal. It’s real, it’s you and in that way, it’s the best it could be!

Have a very Merry Christmas! What are your plans?

    1. Thank you!! Your lovely comment made me smile 😁. Yeah they’re funny to look back on as it’s usually all so clean cut. Yes!! 🙌 Merry Christmas to you too! 🎄 Sorry I’m late in getting back 🙈, I had a really nice day with my family! 🤣 In the days leading up I found it tough to capture the festive feeling but then it came! It ended in a lot of pain so I was upset with myself for somewhat losing half the day but that only means the fun side of things can be reactivated today ✨. How was your day? Hope you had the most amazing time ever! 💚xx
