My first bullet journal 😯 April edition! ✨

Hi everyone! I hope you’re well ❤️ It’s been a long time coming but I recently started my first ever bullet journal!! ✨ It does NOT feel like I started it at the beginning of April though, it feels much longer ago because the days are so spaced out (maybe it’s just that I’ve been waiting to share it for so long and it felt like a lifetime in the making 😂).

I got very creative with it and ended up surprising even myself 😂 My theme was…wait for it…Late to the party! 🎉😂 Ummm I couldn’t ship out invitations to the party because of this whole quarantine thing 🙌 I came up with the idea for the theme whilst thinking of how long it has taken for me to start a bujo (is that how the cool kids say it?) and I was so incredibly excited to make it work. The ideas were flowing and I cannot wait to share it with you! I didn’t do many pages and a lot of what I did do didn’t get stuck to because I think my mood towards it went up and down like it does with a lot of hobbies I partake in (the honeymoon period lasts a hot minute 😂). Let’s start with the notebook I used:

I got it from Sostene Grene in Cork the morning after the Indiependence festival last August…Ahhh it’s memories like that, that are playing a part in keeping me going right now…moving swiftly on from that topic though! 😂

My index is the first style of writing that I ever associated with bullet journalling and I knew I would be including it from the get-go! I am yet to complete the rest of the page but I am planning on colour coding it and using sticky notes on every corresponding page. Until that is completed I will just show you the title!

Donuts make me happy is all I can say about this page and if there’s anything 2020 needs it’s more of that! 🍩

My first attempt at the page stating the month went horribly wrong as I first attempted to colour in the balloons and then backtracked thinking that I didn’t want to use all of the ink up in my nice pens 🤷 I’m pretty happy with how it turned out in the end once I fixed it (fixed = tearing out a page in frustration, regretting it but realizing there’s no going back and then starting all over again 😂). I felt so bad for the torn out page that I used it to practice doodles for future pages though so all was not lost! 🙌

The next page features the books I wanted to read throughout April! 📚 My inspiration for this page was the idea of a wallflower at a party waiting to be picked to dance like the books on a TBR (I had the idea in my head and then my mum reminded me what the term was called 😂). Even though April is basically over I think I might add a flower spiraling up the side of this page 🌱

You can tell I was in a mood when I designed the next page for the books I actually read. “Take a book, sit down and shut up. This is MY party” 😂 I didn’t finish a lot of books because I’m reading so many at the same time (oh the struggle 😂). The best kind of party would have a space dedicated to reading 🙌 I’ve always wanted to have a bookcase page even if I was to never have a bullet journal but I think I might make it smaller in May to compensate for the empty shelves and not make myself feel guilty 😂 Or maybe I will draw the shapes of books to fill it up and only write on the ones I’ve read 🤔 I realize now that I’m after telling people to take a book quite forcefully from the shelf when there isn’t that much choice on them 😕😂 I’ll have to improve upon that next time!

Onto my daily goals which I called “a wish a day” 🕯️ The aim was to colour in the candle at the end of each goal if I completed it but I kinda forgot about the whole thing 🙄 If I do a May spread I might just leave this page out and replace it with a mood tracker as that would be interesting to take notice of considering my book page 😂

And last but by no means least was my blogging schedule! I didn’t stick to the end of it as I changed my last post to something I felt like sharing at the time but for the most part I stuck with it 😄 (now you know that my next post will be my April favourites! I should have covered that up 😂). I didn’t write it all in one go, I’d say I know 2 posts in advance what I’m gonna share on Elsie LMC so I kept coming back to update it but it was nice to have it there in-front of me as a reminder. I REALLY need to get better at planning what I’m going to upload so that there is less stress when the time comes around to actually do it. I find that I type out posts and then I’m not ready to share them yet but I feel like I have to in order to fill in the gap and I want to break that habit! 🙌

And that’s that! Thank you for checking out this post 😉 Do you have a bullet journal? If the answer to that question is yes then what is your favourite page to include in it? I need ideas or else I’mma give up and my failure will be on your shoulders! On that note, Take care and I hope you have a lovely day! ❤️

  1. I’ve seen bullet journals ALL OVER the blogosphere and really wanted one. I went to Michael’s and one was $40 so I was like ain’t nobody got cash for this. Now, I just like to have several notebooks and a poster board for a calendar. But I think one day I might try this. I love your journal theme and ahh all your pages are so creative. Also my little brother went on a bee field trip and now he always says “don’t worry BEE happy” and I couldn’t help but smile at the quote haha. Also, siiiis look at you with that consistent blog post schedule!! Love this and I can’t wait to see May!

    1. WOW 40 for a bullet journal is so bad! I’d expect like 10 journals for that 😂 I think mine was €6 I’m not sure but I’m glad I grabbed it, I suppose a hardback would cost a whole lot more. Yeah do whatever works for you at the moment until you feel ready to start one! Thank you sooo much 😄 aww that’s so cute! 🐝 haha thank you! I’m very bad for leaving typing out posts for the last minute though, I don’t know what I’d rather: not knowing what I’m going to post next at all or knowing but not having it ready 😧 Luckily I have tomorrow’s post ready and I’m going to really try to type out the next one after that so that I’m not worrying about it 🙌😂 Thank you, take care lovely 💕💕

  3. Elsie your bujo (that is how the cool kids say it 😂) is beautiful! I did/may be starting a bujo, but I use it for more tracking and daily to do lists! I’m very interested in creating one for this month, better ate than never right?! 😂 Here are some ideas fo your bujo: a mood tracker, gratitude list, monthly/weekly/daily goals, sleep tracker, habit tracker a that’s pretty much all I can think of 🤭 Loved this so much again, and can’t wait to see more spreads from you! Obviously only if you want to share xx

    1. Ahh thank you so much for the ideas!! 🙌 I’m definitely interested in starting a mood tracker. That makes me so happy! May is not of to the greatest of starts in that I have no ideas for a theme 😂 but I’m sure it will come to me and like you said it’s better late than never ❤️❤️

      1. No problemo Elsie! 💗 For sure, I recommend them as they help me to really see where I’m going wrong with what I’m doing and how everything is affecting me if that makes sense. Oh no! I recommend googling some bujo spreads inspo or going on Pinterest and finding some inspiration! I promise you, there’s lots 😂 100%, you’ve totally got this!!

  4. I started my bullet journal a year ago, I remember that first burst of inspiration! I was worried that I’d lose interest as well and that inspiration would wane, but honestly, it’s only grown over the past year. I’ve learned not to put pressure on myself regarding the journal, it’s meant for me and I can do with it what I please! Some months I spent hours on setting up, drawing things, making lists etc, other months I do something super simple and end up using it more like a diary. Either way, it’s mine and I love it 🥰

    1. It’s so inspiring that inspiration has stayed with you! ✨🙌 I think my May spread is going to be more laid back and I’m not going to go all out on the theme but instead just add in the tracking pages I want to try out, I find it so hard not to put that pressure on myself to do better so it’s gonna be a journey for sure 😂 that’s amazing! Thank you for reading ❤️
