If we were “having” coffee: festive edition! #8

Hi everyone! 💚 I was in the middle of wrapping presents and felt in the mood to have a festive chat so I’ve set everything aside (wrapping is not to be rushed as I enjoy it too much 🎁😂). I’m ready to give this my full attention! For once on this occasion we’re not meeting in a cafe, we’re lounging back at home beside the Christmas tree which is laden with baubles that catch the firelight. All cozy and content! You know the drill: I can’t drink coffee as it brings on migraine flare-ups so we’re pretending I’m “having” it when in fact I’m actually nursing a warm mug of cocoa ☕🤗 The novelty of the pretence is half the idea (the other half is having a good gossip! 🗯️😂).

We’re “having” coffee and I would start off by asking you how you’ve been and how you’re coping with the festive madness? Even if you don’t celebrate Christmas it’s difficult to find a non-festive space to escape to as everywhere is that bit more busy. Sometimes it’s nice to see it all but it can be incredibly nerve inducing too if you find social situations a lot to handle. I hope you’re spicing up the self-care in order to keep warm and get through it + can find something to enjoy amidst the chaos (even when our chats are over I’m always here if you ever need to talk 💫).

If we were “having” coffee I would tell you that the Christmas radio channel started up a couple of weeks ago and the first seasonal song I heard was Slade – Merry Xmas Everybody. This channel is a great way to get into the festive spirit and we always tune in around this time of year 🎄 My dad and I were wondering when we’d hear The Pogues – Fairytale of New York and all of a sudden it started playing! 😵😂

If we were “having” coffee I would tell you that unless I see any last minute bits that I reckon my family would like, I have completed my Christmas shopping! This year I tried not to buy any silly little things, just one main and some essentials (well things I think people need anyway 😏😂). I’m taking my time with the wrapping as it’s so much fun and then I’m looking forward to popping it under the tree and giving endless hints that give nothing away 😂

If we were “having” coffee I would tell you that I actually went shopping by myself! 😲 This is a big thing for me anytime of the year but with there being more people around it was more difficult as I get very anxious but I did it! And I got in a bit of socializing aswell as an elderly lady noticed me after saying hello in Argos and asked where to pay in Tk Maxx (it all counts as a confidence notch on your belt when you’re a nervous person! And it’s nice to think that I seem approachable even though in my head I must look grumpy 😂)

If we were “having” coffee I would let you know that I won’t be doing 12 days of Xmas like I have done in previous years because I just want to continue at this pace and not throw any unnecessary pressure my way 🤷 I will be posting some more festive themed stuff in addition to this post though and you can check out past additions to the 12 days of Xmas series by clicking on these links which will take you to their folders: 2017 & 2018!

If we were “having” coffee I would tell you that our decorations went up almost halfway through the month which was LATE but I suppose some people wait until Christmas Eve as a tradition so I can’t complain 😂 When did/do your decorations go up?

If we were “having” coffee I would refill our mugs! ☕ What would you be drinking?

If we were “having” coffee I would have to comment on how FREEZING it is! I’m going around with a hot water bottle practically glued to me. I wouldn’t be surprised if it snowed here at night but I don’t think the days are low enough in temperature for it to happen no matter how much my teeth are shuddering with the cold ❄️😂
