Taking social media with a pinch of salt

Hi everyone! I hope you’re well ❤️ Here is a bit of a serious question, how does social media make you feel: happy? confused? annoyed? or even sad? For me it’s been the latter of the lot for a long time but I’m working hard on changing that!

I don’t really know how to express myself on social media so I mostly just use it to advertise blog posts and for a long time I’ve been thinking that’s not good enough but it works for me and that’s all that matters and is what I am trying to accept.

I always put so much thought into what I think I should be doing and I don’t even realize that something is better than nothing at all when its somewhere I’m not wanting to give up on being completely. Some days I don’t want to be using social media and that is okay. I’m glad I distance myself in those moments.

I often feel like on social media I pay a lot more attention to stats than I do on my blog in turn not making the environment as fun as it could be. My blog is my positive space and the feeling won’t seem to transcend onto anything else. All I can say is I’m happy I don’t have a love/hate relationship with my blog like I do with social media. I just need to find my place on it and learn from there.

I’ve decided to take social media with a pinch of salt by trying my best not to stress so much over how it could be and just enjoy how it is.

If you want to follow me on my social media journey feel free to, it would make my day!

  1. Hi Lucy,
    I completely feel you!
Our blog is our own space and I feel very positive about mine, but sometimes I feel “dirty” to having to use social media to advertise it. That’s why I’m trying very hard to truly connect to my followers, and not just fishing for some higher numbers.
We can find a way to remain true to ourselves!

    1. I’m glad I’m not the only one who feels like that! I’ve started trying to do the same and I’m feeling a lot more positive about the whole thing now. Thank you so much for reading lovely 😄❤️

  2. I so agree with you. I love social media now because I love to get inspired and motivated by the amazing people I follow like you 💖. It’s important to follow people who inspire and make us happy rather than people who make us feel bad about ourselves or who we look up too. It’s just so easy to compare ourselves to someone online because we don’t see the real life pictures only the beautiful stuff. Most of the time it’s pretty fake. Blogging is so different, pure and honest. That’s what I love the most about blogging. Great post lovely! 💖

  3. Hey sweetie, I totally get what you mean. I’ve distanced myself from social media for a couple of years now. I also use it for posting blog posts and sometimes to share something that has to do with personal development or beauty. Other than that, I don’t feel the need to share as it’s nobody’s business really. I check social media maybe once a week. And I post on Instagram once in a month or so :p. But I guess I do enjoy life a little bit more and appreciate some privacy and the fact that I share something to my closed ones that no one else knows :). xoxo Sarah
