Hi elf-ryone! π Today I have compiled a list of ways to make this Christmas different! I am always looking for ways to try and switch things up whilst still holding onto some of the traditional elements and the following are some ideas that have come to mind! π
Go for a completely different advent calendar than the one you had last year
And especially one that you wouldn’t usually consider! Mine this year is a naughty elf one and it is hilarious but not exactly PG so I won’t go into details π
Decorate the tree with tinsel instead of baubles or the other way round
In all honesty we just throw on a bit of everything but try to hold back and not make it look too crazy π Go out of your comfort zone with it and enjoy yourself!
DIY something you’d usually buy
Hey, that rhymed! Get creative and make the cards this year or the wrapping paper (as long as you don’t mind seeing it all get torn up π¦π). When I was little I used to make my parents magazines + books (one year I made my mum a boxset of books based on an adventurous character but I think that was an unfinished present π€, she was still happy with it though! π).
Get someone else to make Christmas dinner π
Ban whoever makes the dinner each year and choose someone else (as long as the job still gets done!). My dad usually makes the dinner and it is DELICIOUS! π
Do something not so traditional on the big day!
All go for a walk in the afternoon or put on some tunes and sing/dance about the place like you own it…oh you do! ππ
Arrange presents under the tree…
Neatly in order of who they’re for or mess everything up so that people have to go in search of theirs π
Change the order of which you all open gifts
You can all open your presents at the same time OR take turns and watch everyone’s reactions to what they have received π (which is one of the best parts if you ask me!).
Eat your sprouts!
I for one actually like sprouts (especially with gravy!….well that doesn’t count as I like anything with gravy π―π). Chestnuts go so well with them π€€ (yes I’m drooling over a sentence that involves sprouts, but more so the Chestnut part!). If you don’t like sprouts and want this year to be different then eating them will most definitely spark off a chain of events if you catch my drift π
Thank you for reading! π You can find the rest of the 12 days of Xmas posts so far HERE! π Can you think of any more ways to make Christmas different? Let me know and have a wonderful day π
What awesome ideas xx

Nice post β€οΈ I like to put the presents messed up so that’s it’s more fun. We always pick one present and watch someone’s reaction which is the best. I definitely agree π I also like to make my own Christmas cards. It’s so much fun π

Thank you! I love it when we do the same thing and each open a present making it go on for longer π It must be so much fun making Christmas cards! π
