Who we are inside

They say when you’re down you’re blue

but if that were true

why is it there when you look up too?

They say it is the colour that signifies cold

but if I were bold

I’d tell them it is the weather on which I am most sold.

They cower in the face of a tear and this makes it clear that they are not what they appear to be

Deep down they are human, just like you and me.

In a surge of braveness

I’d break it to them gently so that they see this is a thing of beauty

not weakness that they repress and of which we are finally able to bear witness.

They say they hide behind each word

but they don’t need to anymore

because now the true meaning has been heard.

It’s okay to not be okay

to cry until your eyes are sore and still not know why

as long as you’re letting it out and know that you can confide

We weren’t made to be any other way than who we are inside.

Thank you for reading! 😉 I was going through my notebooks in search of a poem and I came across the first three lines of this one entwined within something that I wasn’t really proud of and so it had gone unfinished. I left the other words behind and carried on writing the rest of it. I want for it to highlight the fact that it’s better to not be okay and show it instead of lock those emotions away and make it worse in the long run. I hope you’re having a beautiful day! ❤

  4. That makes me wonder if the blue color reflects as when you are down but most (kinda) social media’s logos are blue as they said reflects calmness or something like that, but overall love what you’ve post!

    1. I heard that once. Yeah the colour does go both ways and induce calmness too, people in a bad space will see it for feeling down and when you look up at the sky it’s also blue too. Thank you for reading! 😄❤
