My Autumn bucket list Revisited! πŸ‚…❄

Hi everyone! How are you today? I’m back revisiting another seasonal bucket list! Today I’m going to update my Autumn bucket list that I posted back in September! Although here in Ireland, Autumn doesn’t end until the 21st of December I think we are more than ready to close off that chapter! Not only because the signs of autumn are fading fast or the temperature is dropping to an all time low but because of all of the Christmas cheer going on that highlights the fact that winter is back with a vengeance! πŸ˜‚ I am having a bad flare-up at the moment that has resulted in many sleepless nights with achy joints ontop of having my period πŸ™„πŸ˜‚ and so I thought that seeing as I love doing these posts it would cheer me up and I was not wrong! Even though I didn’t manage to tick off everything on the list I had a laugh in looking back over it all so I can’t wait to share it with you! πŸ’• Here are the goals I set for myself throughout autumn and how I fared against them! 😬

Pick blackberries in the garden! πŸ‡

When I went out to do this a couple of days later, I found that all of the berries had shriveled up πŸ˜‘ I was all ready with a little container to gather them in too! 😣 But it was not to be! πŸ˜‚ However it’s nice to know that they grow every year surrounding our house so they’ll be back, I just need to be quicker about it next time! πŸ™ˆπŸ˜‚ And then I can set to on making that mouthwatering crumble I dreamt of! πŸ˜‹

Have my dad’s pumpkin and saltfish dish!

Leading up to the time when my dad planned to make his pumpkin and saltfish dish we needed snacks and so naturally in keeping with the season we used up all of the pumpkin! πŸ™ˆπŸ˜‚ My sister made pumpkin soup, I made my pumpkin pie and using the saltfish my mum made fritters which were so good! (And not too salty either as she left the fish to soak and then drained off the salt which kept it’s original flavour! πŸ˜‹). All of this meant no pumpkin and saltfish! 😦 but it can be made with butternut squash too so what with pumpkins going away it can still be made if we can get our hands on some more saltfish! (My aunt usually brings it over with her from England and I’m not sure where it can be bought over here πŸ€”).

Get fluffy socks and a blanket!

Yes and yes! I have been snuggling up in my bed socks that I showed you in my October favourites and I found a blanket that I had packed away in my wardrobe last year that is so cosy and soft! It was heavenly warm after it came out of the dryer and I haven’t let it out of my sight since! πŸ€— Strangely enough I could have sworn I had it up on a favourites post as the image is in my WordPress media folder but it’s not been uploaded to anything so I will share a pic of it with you anyway! πŸ˜‚ It’s pattern is just large spots (I can kind of see now why I probably didn’t add it to a monthly favourites as there wasn’t much to write about it at the time but now I appreciate it’s warmth so it deserves to be featured! πŸ˜‚).

Bundle up in some warm clothes and go in the garden or for walks up the road!

Hmmm πŸ€” I think that this goal may have been achieved whilst I stayed at the cottage for my birthday HERE as my sister and I went for the most peaceful walk on our second day! Here’s a photo she took of me as I walked (it made me laugh when she sent it to me later as it looked like we had gotten lost in the woods for my birthday πŸ™ˆπŸ˜‚).

Carve a pumpkin + plant the seeds!

Is it bad that we didn’t get around to carving pumpkins this year? πŸ˜¬πŸ™ˆ I remember saying on a post that we were planning on doing it at some point but I don’t know where that point went off to… probably got lost in the woods! πŸ˜‚ As you can tell from the second goal on this list, it’s not like the edible part of the pumpkin went to waste πŸ˜‹ (we roasted the pumpkin seeds instead of planting them!) but I am kinda sad that I didn’t get to carve a Jack Skellington design πŸŽƒπŸ˜“ ah well, it’s not the end of the world! πŸ˜‚

Do new things!

It’s difficult to know what falls under this goal exactly but I know that staying in the cottage was definitely a new experience for my sister and I! As well as going up to Dublin HERE the other week as that really tested me in terms of going on the Luas for the first time πŸš„, being around so many people and the massive flare-up I had afterwards of not being able to walk with the pain. I can remember at one point around the middle of Autumn I went outside on a good day with the sole intention of walking through puddles and crunching down upon the leaves and that was a beautiful moment, although my Labrador Ruby gave me a really judgy look that implied that that kind of stuff isn’t for humans although I don’t see her risking messing up her paws in the mud! πŸ˜‚ (Although she’s probably embarrassed by how we have to clean her afterwards πŸ€”πŸ˜‚).

Tidy my room

This one is up and down as I have been trying my best to clear out my room (all of those sacks of books and clothes I mentioned before have gone to various charity shops! πŸ˜„) but in doing this I’ve been inflicting the flare-ups on myself and am left unable to carry on with the job leaving what is left of the mess to stay the way it is. Recently I’ve been pacing myself and doing a little bit every other day which has been okay so far. Despite the pain I’m proud of myself as I find it so hard not being able to just keep going at it and getting it done in one go. I have been keeping in mind how bad I can get and stopping just in time. Seeing the progress of my room slowly but surely coming along is nice as it proves to me how things that I want to do can still be done as long as I don’t push myself and I find ways to work around it. Do you remember how I used to say I wanted to do a room tour? Well I still do! πŸ˜‚ So even if it takes a long time to get round to it I will make that happen!

Right, and that’s it with Autumn! 😌 You can see what I meant by not really ticking much off can’t you? πŸ™ˆ But I still managed to find something to rant about under each one (winning! πŸ˜ŽπŸ˜‚). Autumn, you were such a mesmerizing season that brought along many magical memories and although the majority of your beauty got blown away to who knows where because of storms Ophelia/Brian πŸ˜‚ you were lovely whilst you lasted! πŸ‚

Thank you for reading! πŸ˜‰πŸ’— Did you have any goals for Autumn? How did they go? Let me know and have a lovely day!

  1. Autumn is my favorite season! Just hasn’t been my favorite this year with everything that’s been going on. I’m glad yours was much better even though you didn’t get to do everything you wanted. I’ve been wanting to go hiking lately or a nice nature walk in general. It always feels good being out taking in the all the beauty and just thinking about life. Oh and I love the part about Ruby lol!
