Spooky DIY Garland! 🎃

Hi everyone! Happy Halloween! 👻 I hope you are having an amazing time! The other day I decided to make a spooky Garland seeing as there are no other Halloween decorations put up in our house other than carved pumpkins I will hopefully be doing today (sort of late I know! 😂) I didn’t want the occasion to pass feeling like we don’t care about it! 😂. It was easy to make this garland but took a long time to focus on which was fine as it was therapeutic 🙈😂 I didn’t want to make a paper chain, I wanted to connect them all myself and enjoy being artsy 🙈😂 but if you would rather save time and cut out a paper chain that would be perfectly fine too! It was worth it in the end to have the finished Garland hanging up! (It even had the dogs barking so I reckon it deserves it’s spooky title! 😂) I will share with you how I made it!

What you will need:

• Paper
• Sheets and thin strips of coloured card
• A pen, a pencil, a marker and a brush
• Sellotape
• Scissors
• Glitter
• Glue

Step 1

Draw out the shape you would like your Garland to be based on (I chose a pumpkin! 🎃) Leaving a square strap on each side so as to connect each pumpkin and then cut it out, it should look something like this:

Step 2

Place your shape on the couloured card and use it as a stencil, drawing around it to make as many identical shapes as you can (repeat this for as long a garland you want) and then cut them out!

Step 3

Lay all the shapes beside each other and use the thin strips of card (I used purple card) to connect the shapes by laying them over the square straps on each side and sellotaping to make the links stronger.

Step 4

Lightly brush every second shape with glue and sprinkle with glitter then leave to dry.

Step 5

Draw features onto all of the blank shapes without the glitter.

Et voila! 💃(Always wanted to write that here 🙄😂), a mildly scary craft for us humans but surprisingly eery to my pets! 😂 It was so much fun to make it! Hang it up wherever you want but be sure to check the glitter is completely dry or else it will all fall off 🙈😬😂. I hope you liked my first DIY post! 😄
