Hi everyone! Welcome to a post about firsts π¬. I hope you’re well and ready to hear about them because I’m in the mood to talk π€£. So last week my sister and I were on the way to Dublin and we decided we wanted to try out a restaurant I’ve only ever ordered boba tea from before and then we took it a step further, we decided this would be the day that we tried raw fish for the first time! π²…well im guessing its a first, is tinned tuna raw? π€ as I’ve had that beforeΒ and seafood sticks but regardless, this was the first proper time as there wasn’t going to be any confusion about it, we were gonna get raw sushi!
So we turned up at the restaurant, Musashi in Blanchardstown and placed our order.

I got the pad Thai which was alright but the main event for the day was the Salmon Avocado Norimaki which as you can guess was bloody raw, literally π€£.

My sis and I were both anxious but excited and both prepped our forks (as chopsticks went out of the window immediately, will I ever know how to hold them properly? That is the question!). My first opinion of the raw salmon was that you could almost convince yourself it wasn’t there because the avocado was so flavourful but once you started thinking about it, you knew it was there. Like a pimple π. It was slimy and we had to cheer eachother on to finish each bite! π And then we waited for allergic reactions as our dad is severely allergic to shellfish and we’ve gotten rashes before, I know this isnt shellfish but its raw so you never know π€£. For the most part we focused on our main dishes (mine being the pad Thai) which leads me onto another first!…
Prawns! I’d seen they would be in it on the menu and thought, why not? Go all out as they say! Well, it tasted like the ocean π. Not my cup of tea but I still want to try shrimp as I like shrimp flavoured crisps but not with the head on staring at me, oh no, cooked and chopped into something might be nice!
I forgot to mention, I tried the sushi with a bit of wasabi too and I recognised the taste of wasabi so I may have had it before but I didn’t like the strong taste to it. After that as my sister and I were kind of sharing bits of our meals (she ate the prawns so they didn’t go to waste!) and her meal was the chicken ramen, I tried a piece of bok choy for the first time and I didn’t think it tasted of anything!
Just before leaving I couldn’t help myself, I had to get a boba tea π§. My order from Mushashi is their origonal with honey popping, 30% less sugar (I think thats it) and half ice! It’s chefs kiss π€. We then went to Tkmaxx/Homesense and I bought a few non fiction self love books before finishing my boba which I’d left in the car, I really tried to space out the experience π€£.
Anyway we enjoyed the rest of the day but I just wanted to hop on here and share my “first” experience with raw fish! π
Do you like raw fish? I don’t think I’d rush to try it again tbh. It’s cooked foods all the way everyday for me! π I hope you enjoyed this post as much as I did recounting that part of my day! Be sure to leave a fish emoji in the comments if you made it think far π
I’ve got to go now but I’ll see you around the blogosphere and have another post out to you on Saturday π. These weeks be going by quickly this year!! I hope you have a wonderful weekend, stay safe, take care and buh-bye! β¨οΈπ
