Hi everyone! How are you doing? 💗 I’m in the mood to create a cosy post about this Thursday just gone by because it’s a nice memory that I want to always remember and that is the beauty of a blog post! ✨️ It started out at the Bord Gáis Energy Theatre (which we luckily got parking for as we left early! 😅 I was secretly ready to be turned away 🤣) and we were there to see the Tina Turner musical! 💃 This was a Christmas present to my sister from me and it was so nice seeing her enjoy it! (I literally kept taking peeks as my sis was sat leaning on the barrier (as our seats were at the front of the upper circle looking down), she was enthralled by it!

Tina was a powerful story of the singers life and I learnt a lot about her past, including her childhood. The girl who played young Anna Mae (which I hadn’t known was Tina Turners real name), Chizaram Ochuba-Okafor had a brilliant voice and it soared from the stage and started out the play meaningfully. Elle Ma-Kinga N’Zuzi who was our Tina for the night was sensational and my sister and I thought she had so much energy! She owned the stage and every song sang by her was a real treat. My favourite part was when her backing dancers came out for their first scene and they all started dancing in sync, it was magical and you could tell that a serious amount of training and work had gone into the art. I love how Tina Turner herself was involved in the creation of the musical, it just makes it that bit more special and it’s an event I will never forget.
Annoyingly, I had popcorn and gave myself a headache but I was determined to make the most of the rest of the day 😑. After the show, my sister and I quickly made our way round to The Nutbutter restaurant which is where we went after we saw Hamilton last year and luckily we got seated. I really wanted to try their pho as it had been my second option the last time but I was disappointed with what I received which looked beautiful and fresh but just tasted of vinegar and bland beansprouts 🫤. I wish I’d gotten what we’d both had the first time and what my sis went for again, the rainbow pad Thai but shoulda coulda woulda! 🤣

We decided to get dessert to takeaway and my sister chose a matcha white chocolate bar which she adored and I opted for their almond cloud jar and guess what?….it made up for the pho 🙌😍. It tasted like a nutty mince pie with custard 🤤 it was truly a thing of beauty 🥲. It had pineapple in it but it worked!! 🍍 I’d go back just for that tbh 🤣.
We decided to stop by in Carrickmines to check out the new Dunelm and one of our fav tkmaxx’s and I bought a travel book but I won’t say where it’s for as I don’t want to give anything away but fingers crossed for one day 🤭 and i’ll be sure to document it here. On the way home we saw a rainbow and being the Gen Z gal I am I had to take a picture of it! 🤣

My sister then treated us to mcdonalds as like I mentioned above, dinner hadn’t gone down well for me and we were both hungry. You can’t go wrong with mcdonalds 😋. We parked up where we’d parked the day we came back to Ireland from this trip to London and it felt really nice being brought back to that lovely time ✨️.
After this we went home and I grabbed a hot water bottle and got changed for bed, snug as a bug! It had been a really nice day despite the headache and it makes me excited for the next theatre show we’ll be going to see which is a way off later on in the year but who knows, maybe we’ll see something before then! The future is ours I tell you! 🤣
What was the last musical you saw? Do you enjoy musicals in general? I think done properly they can be great and there is nothing like the experience!
I’ve gotta go now but I’ll be around the blogosphere checking out posts so come say hi before I do! 😂 I hope you have a wonderful day/night, stay safe, take care and buh-bye ✨️💗.
Sounds like you had a wonderful time! I don’t like musicals, there’s something about bursting into song randomly that really bothers me… even though I do that in real life! 🤣 But I did see a musical on Broadway when I was in NYC, I saw Chicago and enjoyed it!

Haha that’s funny 🤣🤣. Oh my gosh, Chicago came here in March, I haven’t seen it but have heard on the radio that it’s brilliant! 😯

It was really good, and that’s a rave review from a non-musical person! 😆

Hmm, I wonder if Dr. Okafor in the Resident got her name from Tina Turner then? That would be quite cool if that was the case.

Ahh the way I wrote it was a bit confusing, Chizaram Ochuba-Okafor is the name of the person who played young Tina! Tina’s real name is Anna Mae 😊

Ahh I was probably reading too fast 😂. I tend to do that and so I misread what it says. Thanks for clarifying, though!

I’ve never seen a musical live in person but I’ve always wanted to. I just don’t have that type of stuff where I live. At least not that I’m aware of.

Ahh I hope you get to one day! Are there any shows in particular you’ve wanted to see before? ✨️

Literally I’m drawing a blank haha. The only thing that’s coming to mind is Hamilton and I think that’s because I recently watched it on Disney+.

I loved watching it on Disney + but I just know seeing it live would be a completely different experience.

I’m glad the musical was so good! My son and I just went to see a comedian this week and that was a lot of fun.
