Controversial 😬 A book I’m not enjoying!

Hello you! Yes you! Today I thought I’d speak up on something I’ve kept hidden. Something us bookish peeps can’t help but want to keep to ourselves….its about a book that’s very popular. Its about a book that I’m having a difficult time trying to get into (not the worst problem to have but when it can be used in instances like this, I’ll take it! 🤣).

I bet if you’ve clicked on this post you’re wanting to know what the book is. Well I won’t draw this out any longer than I need to…..the book that I’m not enjoying is…..Happy Place by Emily Henry 🙈🙈🙈.

Do you hate me?? I don’t hate it but I’m finding it so hard to connect with this book. When I read it there’s just something pushing at me not to keep going and I don’t know what it is. I’ll be really trying with a chapter but deep down and on surface level, I’m wanting to just put it away.

I don’t even know if I want to see what happens in it. I kinda do but I also don’t want to force it. I have this fear that if I force it with a book then I’ll fall into a rut or something. Do you know what I mean? It’s just sat by my bed and I never want to make the move to pick it up, it feels daunting for some reason and that probably sounds dramatic but it just does, I don’t know how else to explain it.

I thought I’d take the plunge and come on here to tell you because honesty is the best policy and maybe I can figure out why it’s not for me, maybe it’s simple and it just isn’t my cup of tea. It won’t stop me from trying other Emily Henry books and I’m not even saying right now that I want to give up on it because I don’t want to. I know it’s weird to keep at it with a book I’m not wholly enjoying but I want to know what all the fuss is about. Maybe I’ll finish it, maybe I won’t. I’m so damn confused 🤯🤣.

For now, it’s not going to be my main book. I’ve started another read (Anna K by Jenny Lee) and I’ve drifted from my one book at a time pathway but it’s the way its gonna be.

Have you read Happy Place? I feel like it’s that book that’s always showcased and I just wanted to share my opinion of it. Maybe I could grow to regret this post and end up loving the book but for now, I can’t hide my emotions…..God this all sounds so deep 😂.

I’d love to know your thoughts! Is there a book out there that’s full of hype that you couldn’t get into? Let me know in the comments below 💌.

I’m off now but I’ll see you again soon! I hope that whatever your reading is good right now 📚 there’s nothing like a great book!

Buh-bye! 💗

  1. I had similar experience with Book Lovers by Emily Henry lol
I left the book in between and it’s not like I was hating it but I just didn’t want to continue reading it anymore.
It’s okay to have different opinions 😂

    1. Oh really 🤣 yeah that’s exactly how it felt, I didn’t hate it but it just didn’t feel easy going. I’m giving it a chance and last night I read quite a bit of it, kind of looking forward to seeing what happens

  2. I’ve only read 1 Emily Henry book, The People We Meet on Vacation and I thoroughly enjoyed that one. I haven’t tried my hand at any of her other books, but the covers are all so colourful! I’m sorry you’re not enjoying it. I hope if you continue with it, that it gets better!

    1. Yeah I love the covers too, they’re very unique and you know they’re hers. I’m giving it a chance, last night I read quite a bit of it and I was really into it. Looking forward to reading more tonight

  3. Be individual and unique. You don’t have to agree with popular opinions. I’ve reached a point where I stop reading a book after 50 pages if I can’t get into it.

    1. My mum always says what’s the point in reading something you’re not enjoying when you could be lost in something incredible. I’m always bad for wanting to finish books despite not liking them
