A butterfly lands: Tanka Poem! ๐Ÿฆ‹

A flutter of wings

a butterfly descending

lands on your finger

It is Delicate don’t touch

newfound appreciation.

Hi everyone! How are you doing? ๐Ÿ’— It’s no secret that butterflies scare the life out of me but despite this I found myself wanting to write a tanka poem about them ๐Ÿค”. The sheer sight of them sends me running for the hills (if there are mountains, I will find them ๐Ÿคฃ) so we will just pretend I’m capable of letting one land on my finger for the purpose of this posts even tho the very thought sends chills down my spine! ๐Ÿ˜ฐ

Incase you don’t know a tanka poem follows the flow of these numbers of syllables per line: 5-7-5-7-7. Tanka poems are still fairly new to me so I have to look it up every time! ๐Ÿคฃ I thought I only just recently learnt how to write them but upon just searching on my blogs website I found my very first tanka called A Wave of Emotions from 2022 and I’d love it you could go and read it, I’ve fallen in love with it all over again!

Oh and just incase you’re wondering, I know I said the butterfly lands on your finger and then I said don’t touch it, but its allowed to land on its feet, you just can’t touch its wings! Thats been on my mind ๐Ÿ˜‚.

Also, now I’ve got the song Butterfly Fly Away by Billy Ray Cyrus featuring Miley Cyrus stuck in my head ๐Ÿ˜‚ nevermind, it’s a beautiful song!!

Anyway! I’ll be off now ๐Ÿ˜‰. If you find yourself missing me, even just a little bit then you can find me over on my Instagram account chatting away about books โœจ๏ธ๐Ÿ“š. Let me know your thoughts on todays tanka poem and feel free to write your own one in the comments section using butterfly as a prompt! I’d love to hear them ๐Ÿฅฐ. I’ll see you again soon but until then, stay safe, take care and buh-bye! โœจ๏ธ๐Ÿ’—xx
