Twas the night after world book day: A Tanka Poem! ✨️📚

And all through the world

Pages were still being turned

Creating magic

Where it had not been before

This is pure, this is heaven.

Hi guys! I thought it was time to try something different, something I don’t think I’ve ever tried before, a tanka poem! Instead of my usual Haiku 🤣. Tanka poems have 5 syllables in the first line, 7 in the second, 5 in the third and then 7 in the fourth and fifth lines. It was a little bit tricky but I like how it turned out. I had just got in bed and I had the words “twas the night after world book day” going through my head so I knew I had to turn it into something!

I don’t know if the last line is a bit random, it felt like the only fit in my mind. I literally tried to change it but i couldnt think of anything but that, it just felt rigjt. That feeling when you get a good book and it feels so easygoing and as though you’ve been transported into that world, it’s Heavenly. I googled what pure meant and wholesome came up which I think is the mood I was trying to set. I’m not trying to say that you have to be pure to get into heaven guys, it has a deeper bookish meaning 🙌🤣.

QOTD: Did you read anything for world book day? I started a book called Black Queen where a homecoming queen is murdered and her friend is trying to figure out who the culprit is. It’s so so good!

Thank you for taking the time to read my tanka poem! Let me know what you think of it in the comments, I’d love to know!

I hope you have a wonderful day, I’ll see you again next Friday but until then stay safe, take care and buh-bye! (You can find me chatting about books over on my insta account! ✨️📚).
