A mini book haul! 📚😯

Hi everyone! Not gonna lie, I almost forgot to prepare a blog post for today so this one’s a bit last minute but we’re here for it! 🙈🤣 The other day I went for my covid vaccine and picked up what I believe to be a few bookish gems afterwards in The Works. There’s nothing like treating yourself to some new reads and I’m so excited about these ones even tho I’ve also got a load of library books to work my way through too (but that’s for another post altogether!). Let me show you the books I bought:

My Roommate is a Vampire

By Jenna Levine

Two strangers. One apartment.
Will it be love at first . . . bite?

Cassie Greenberg needs a new place to live, and fast. When she finds an affordable apartment in a beautiful neighbourhood, she knows there must be a catch.

Of course, her new roommate Frederick J. Fitzwilliam is far from normal. He sleeps all day, is out at night on business, and talks like he walked out of a regency romance novel.

He is also leaves Cassie heart-melting notes around the apartment, always asks about her day, and doesn’t look half bad shirtless on the rare occasions they’re both home and awake.

There’s no denying there’s a spark between them – but there’s also a secret. . .

With true love at stake, will Frederick come clean?

This one seems like a bit of fun! I can’t remember the last time I read a book with vampires in it and I’m hoping this book will put them on the map in terms of being good!

The Sanatorium

By Sarah Pearse

A beautiful, eerie hotel in the Swiss Alps, recently converted from an abandoned sanatorium, is the last place Detective Elin Warner wants to be. But her estranged brother has invited her there for his engagement party, and she feels she has no choice but to accept.

Arriving in the midst of a threatening storm, Elin immediately feels on edge. And things only get worse when they wake the next morning to find her brother’s fiancée is missing. With access to the hotel cut off, the guests begin to panic.

But this is only the first disappearance. Everyone’s in danger – and anyone could be next . . .

I first heard of this from a book reviewer on Twitter and at the time I was dead set on getting it but then worries over whether or not it’s scary crept in, now those fears are still there but I’m intrigued to see if it’s as good as that original reviewer made it out to be.

Love in the Time of Serial Killers

By Alicia Thompson

Turns out that reading nothing but true crime isn’t exactly conducive to modern dating – and one woman is going to have to learn how to give love a chance when she’s used to suspecting the worst.

PhD candidate Phoebe Walsh has always been obsessed with true crime. She’s even analysing the genre in her dissertation – if she can manage to finish writing it. It’s hard to find the time while she spends the summer in Florida, cleaning out her childhood home, dealing with her obnoxiously good-natured younger brother, and grappling with the complicated feelings of mourning a father she hadn’t had a relationship with for years.

It doesn’t help that she’s low-key convinced that her new neighbour, Sam Dennings, is a serial killer (he may dress business casual by day, but at night he’s clearly up to something). But it’s not long before Phoebe realises that Sam might be something much scarier – a genuinely nice guy who can pierce her armour to reach her vulnerable heart.

I’m a bit unsure about this one so I wonder if it’ll beat my expectations! I sure hope so anyway!

I was annoyed to find that these books would have been cheaper from Amazon but oh well 🙄. Anyway! Thanks for checking out this post. Be sure to let me know if you’ve read or heard of any of these books!

I’ll be back again next week but until then, have a wonderful weekend, stay safe, take care and buh-bye! ✨️💕
