What I’m reading at the moment! πŸ“šβ€οΈβ€πŸ”₯

Hiya everyone! How are you doing? I know, I know, it’s been a hot minute since I last posted πŸ™ˆ. I have my reasons, life’s been a bit mad but I’m here and surely that’s what matters now, right? πŸ˜… Phew! So I was getting ready for bed and thought it’d be nice to write a post about the books I’m reading at the moment so that’s what I’m gonna do today! Some of these books are setting my heart on fire, hence the emoji in the title ❀️‍πŸ”₯🀣 so let’s get discussing! Starting with…

Anne of Green Gables by L.M. Montgomery

When Marilla and Matthew Cuthbert decide to adopt a boy from an orphanage they are not sure what to expect. They are in for a surprise when an adventurous, imaginative, red-haired little girl arrives at Green Gables instead.

Follow Anne’s adventures on Prince Edward Island in the first of Lucy Maud Montgomery’s much-loved stories. Filled with mischief, romance, and friendship, this classic book is sure to delight readers of all ages.

I’ve got a lil love affair with Anne with an E but I’m only just getting around to reading AOGG which surprises me! Long story short, I’m absolutely LOVING it so far, it’s such an easy read and I love how it makes me feel like I’m watching Anne with an E, it just has that magical feeling going on and I’m here for it! I always get excited to pick it up so it probably won’t last long until I’m onto the next book in the series. Next up we have….

Radio Silence by Alice Oseman

What if everything you set yourself up to be was wrong?

Frances is a study machine with one goal. Nothing will stand in her way – not friends, not a guilty secret, not even the person she is on the inside. Then she meets Aled, and for the first time she’s unafraid to be herself.

So when the fragile trust between them is broken Frances is caught between who she was and who she longs to be. Now she knows that she has to confront her past. To confess why Carys disappeared…

Frances is going to need every bit of courage she has.

Don’t hate on me but I’m finding this one a bit difficult right now, I am excited about the new heartstopper book coming out on November 9th tho (my birthday!!! πŸ˜†). I’ve pre-ordered it! Anyways back to the topic at hand, when I started this book I remember finding it hard to put down so I don’t know what went wrong but I’m not gonna give up on it! I like how there’s an element of mystery hanging above the storyline as to what happened to one character in particular so I’m looking forward to finding that out, it should be interesting.

The Assassins Blade by Sarah J. Maas

The twist of a knife, the birth of a legend…

Celaena Sardothien owes her reputation to Arobynn Hamel. He gave her a home at the Assasins’ Guild and taught her the skills she needed to survive.

Arobynn’s enemies stretch far and wide – from Adarlan’s rooftops and its filthy dens, to remote islands and hostile deserts. Celaena is duty-bound to hunt them down. But behind her assignments lies a dark truth that will seal her fate – and cut her heart in two forever…

I went back to this one which I started reading a few years ago after getting the rest of the collection in a charity shop and it’s really good so far. It’s one of those books that really puts you there with the characters. Sometimes I go for long periods of time where I can’t pick it up tho, I don’t know why (this is kinda turning into a post where I complain about books for some reason πŸ˜‚).

Late to The Party by Kelly Quindlen

Seventeen is nothing like Codi Teller imagined.

She’s never crashed a party, never stayed out too late. She’s never even been kissed. And it’s not just because she’s gay.

So when her two best friends suggest crashing a party, Codi is highly skeptical. Those parties aren’t for kids like them. They’re for cool kids. Straight kids.

But then Codi stumbles upon one of those cool kids, Ricky, kissing another boy in the dark, and an unexpected friendship is formed. In return for never talking about that kiss, Ricky takes Codi under his wing and draws her into a wild summer filled with late nights, new experiences, and one really cute girl named Lydia. The only problem? Codi never tells her best friends about any of it.

I zoomed through Kelly’s other book She Drives Me Crazy so getting this was a no brainer for me. I’m not reading it as fast and I’m only at the beginning but it’s still pretty good.

IDOL by Louise O’Neill

‘Follow your heart and speak your truth.’

For Samantha Millers young fans – her ‘girls’ – she’s everything they want to be. She’s an oracle, telling them how to live their lives, how to be happy, how to find and honour their ‘truth’.

And her career is booming: she’s just hit three million followers, her new book Chaste has gone straight to the top of the bestseller lists and she’s appearing at sell-out events.

Determined to speak her truth and bare all to her adoring fans, she’s written an essay about her sexual awakening as a teenager with her female best friend, Lisa. She’s never told a soul, but now she’s telling the world. The essay goes viral.

But then – years since they last spoke – Lisa gets in touch to say that she doesn’t remember it that way at all. Her memory of that night is far darker. It’s Sam’s word against Lisa’s – so who gets to tell the story? Whose ‘truth’ is really a lie?

‘You put yourself on that pedestal Samantha. You only have yourself to blame.’

I used to love Louise O’Neill books (I even wrote a review of Only Ever Yours HERE) and I read about this one in a magazine so when I found a signed copy in Easons I knew I couldn’t just leave it there! 🀯 The plot is super compelling and I cannot wait to see what happens next, its not like anything I’ve ever read before which is fantastic. I’d recommend it so far!

And there we have it! Thanks for reading my post! 😊 I hope you enjoyed it as much as I liked writing it. I’m also kinda, sorta reading Spare by Prince Harry but it’s a slow burner for me so I decided not to add it to the list. Be sure to let me know in the comments what you’re reading at the moment! I wanna know the good and the bad! Anywho I’ll see you later but until then, stay safe, take care and buh-bye! πŸ’•

  1. Hello! It’s good to hear from you, Lucy! I’m currently re-reading Anne of Green Gables. I read it for the first time last year and fell in complete love with her and the book! I can’t wait to read the rest of the series. I hope you continue to love it too! 😊
