Hey, hi and hello! How is your day going so far? I really hope it’s a good one 🧡. I kind of gave the game away that this post was coming on my last post where I wrote about how health got in the way of me taking photos of my journal but now I can happily say to you that some gorgeous pics kindly got taken for me by my sister!! 🥰 With my added rambles this post is now well and truly good to go! 😁 Things have been crazy so it’s nice when I get the chance to put some thought into journalling and I’m very pleased with how my May spread turned out. The theme is……..🥁…….BUBBLES!! 💙 (I feel like that blue heart emoji suits the word way better than the speech or thought bubbles do 💭🤣).
I was heavily inspired by Pinterest and it really helped with trying to figure out how to even draw bubbles (they’re finicky things!) so where it applies I will tag in where ideas came from if not from my own imagination! Each month I want to try out new pages in my bullet journal to see which ones stick/are useful so I’m hoping at least one or two get the tick of approval this time round and I’ll decide to do them again! 🙌 I don’t think I carried any forward from my April spread 🤔. All in all I’m surprised I’m back at this for a second month so hurray for that! 🎉😂
I was just looking back at one of my old bujo spreads (the 2020 autumnal one to be precise) and a huge wave of nostalgia washed over me for those days to come back where I felt more able to do things even tho I thought I was in the thick of it back then! It’s weird how time works and how new meaning can be added to how we look at stuff. Maybe that’s what played a part in having my theme be bubbles 🤔 – it’s like a moment can pop and just disappear even tho it was very much there once upon a time….God I’m making this spread sound a bit low 🙈, I mean c’mon it’s bubbles! You can’t even say it in a sad voice without sounding funny (try it! 🤣). Like with how I looked back to that moment in time, I’d like for these difficult days to be what I look back on when I’m a whole lot better and seeing the pages I’ve drawn out sort of feel like a glimmer of hope for that to come true so fingers bloody well crossed 🤞. Anyway! Here’s my May spread and thoughts for how it all came together:

It took a good while for me to decide on a font for the first page but then when I stopped thinking too much about it, it just happened! I got out some crayola twistables and drew in big bubble-like letters before outlining parts of them with highlighter. Then I drew a bubble around it similar to the one by Katy Alice on Pinterest. I used to be mad about crayola and now that feelings coming back because they easily add a pop of colour to a page! ✨ It felt like I’d painted or something 🤣. It’s like even if you just do some scribbles, the colours will make things tie in and it’s easier to stick to a few shades and have a trend start to take place! I contemplated using a pencil to faintly sketch before drawing incase I went wrong with the crayon but I couldn’t be asked to find one so I just went for it 😁.

Next up is the planner page going by the layout shown by @lindatongplanners and I love how it’s neat and simple! I wanted each square to measure out the same so after drawing one out first and realizing what areas I’d have to go back on by a few centimeters, I drew it out in my bujo! Turning over, I didn’t want to risk making a mistake on the other side of the paper and end up having to tear it out so I practiced on another sheet, then copied it in to my bujo which worked well with a lot of the pages before doing them properly! I’ll show that and the adjoining page together as they’re both to do with the blog! ✨

The page to the left has space to write daily habits I wish to keep up that have to do with this blog and I added in a lil plus sign beside it so as to acknowledge other things I enjoy doing that go hand in hand with my blog that I want to remember to do stuff for like social media. This page is a cute and quirky design and the way the circle is stretched out it looks like one of those big bubbles being blown up that flies off all warped into the sky ☁️. On the page to the right I totally went with a layout by The Paper Kind for a post tracker because I feel like it’ll be so helpful and a good way to keep track of what can be the stages of a blog post! In the background I came up with the idea to draw faint bubbles and I can’t help but look at them and not have my first attempt come to mind where I tried to colour one of the bubbles in…it went HORRIBLY wrong and totally ruined that page so I’m glad I just started over and came out ontop with this! 🤣

Moving onto the next two pages, I started out by drawing a sidebar thingamajig of bubbles and then turned it into a gratitude list for the month. These pages used to feature a lot in my old bullet journal and I can remember getting in bed, ready to write out what came to mind 💫. The page beside that is full of miniature bubbles (the idea is from Stinu Loves Makeup) that feature as a sleep tracker because I’ve been all over the place lately and that sort of got highlighted by the fact that I almost made it to the end and I thought it looked like more bubbles were ahead than there should be 🙈. THAT, my friend, is why day 11 is at the very bottom 🙄🤣.

The last two pages are dedicated to becoming a place to jot down anything that comes to mind and the frame leads around from the word “Journal” all the way to the other side before it POPS like a mega bubble, signifying the end of this madness 🤣.
I’m very happy with how it all turned out and I’m also a little shocked because I wasn’t expecting it after wondering what I should do in the first place! 🤯 I know I should take time to enjoy it but my mind has already raced ahead to what June could be like (I wanna use some washi tape! I said I would for May but then I didn’t 😅). Whatever happens, at least I know I’ve got my very own camera-girl close by who can snap pics when I’m not up to it (I’ll soon have my sister wishing she’d never offered because now I’ve seen the standard and I’m not letting go 😏🤣).
Thank you for checking out this post! 💖
Do you have a bullet journal? If so then what was your theme for the month of May and what item of stationery could you NOT do without for journalling in general? Other than the book itself of course! (I’d probably go with a black fineliner pen because they make things look bold!).
Anyway, it’s that time of the post! I hope you have an incredible weekend and that something happens that surprises you in the best way possible! 🌟 Until we meet again, stay safe, take care and buh-bye 🌊✨💛xx
