🌻 For Ukraine 🌻

Hi everyone, I hope you’re well and doing okay! 💛

It hasn’t truly felt right posting anything “normal” lately (as I’m sure a lot of people feel at the moment) what with the horrors that Ukrainian people are being subjected to. It is unlawful and sickening what is being done to innocent people for no right-minded reason. Nothing makes it okay and its terrifying to think that someone would feel justified in persecuting and killing fellow human beings. Hatred is at the heart and centre of what is being done and I won’t pretend to know or even understand what is going on completely but I know that it’s not right at all. I’ve always been told that if you knew how some people think, then you’d be in trouble yourself and I think this is something where nobody knows how a person so determined to inflict pain is thinking.

Many people in Russia are afraid to speak up for fear of being taken down and yet that doesn’t seem to phase those that are causing this terror. It’s fake news on a whole other level than what used to be applied to the term. Propaganda is being fed to the Russian public and that to me, mirrors some creepy dystopian novel that I’d be grateful to put down but they are either believing it (because it’s what is on the news so why instantly question it?) or like I mentioned before, are aware yet afraid.

At this very second, people are fleeing for their lives and I hope and pray that they find safety wherever they go with their loved ones. It’s so sad to know that there are people who cannot easily leave the country whether that be for health reasons at home, on a hospital ward or for other reasons. WHY do things like this happen?? Who decides that a life doesn’t matter and is simply collateral damage that should go unmentioned? Power crazy people who don’t care about anyone but themselves and how they look if they back down and do the right thing, that’s who. Nobody has the power to take a blameless human life and get away with it because those life’s in themselves were powerful and those that are left to tell the tale are powerful too. Ruthlessness doesn’t equate to power, its equal to cowardliness in wanting something that’s not yours.

Saying all this can feel strange in that I’m speaking of hatred for another human being so openly when I wouldn’t usually do so on my blog. It’s a bit scary I won’t lie. But why not admit to that viewpoint when Putin so obviously has an abhorrent attitude and course of action towards people who have done nothing wrong?

Looking back I feel like this was and is such a randomly written and kinda haphazard post but I remember that being one of the reasons I kept blogging: to voice what I’m feeling and thinking in any given moment and this isn’t something that goes to the back of your mind. It stays upfront because what is happening is completely and utterly inhumane. I haven’t written everything because I just know I’ll go away and there’ll be more, it’s such a big thing but that’s better than writing nothing when I just have to acknowledge it, full stop.

My heart goes out to everyone affected in this war. I stand with Ukraine and hope more than anything that this ends in their favour so that the intense suffering can stop, once and for all. I feel useless in that I don’t know what to do to be of help but I can share resources/links that lead to some of the charities and organizations that are doing their utmost to make a difference:

This article by The Cut provides a long list of places to donate to and also explains who you will be helping such as refugees, children affected by the war, journalists risking their life’s to tell the truth and BIPOC and LGBTIQ+ refugees who face difficulties making it across the boarder. The list goes on and I found it to be a hugely informative hub.

More is listed on a Marie Claire article such as UNICEF and the The Ukrainian Red Cross.

Other ways that make a difference are by speaking about it and being aware of what is going on and not just taking action whenever the opportunity arises but creating opportunities to be of assistance.

Again, I’m not some person who knows all there is to know about politics or why this happening so be kind in the comments with regards to my perspective on things or else 😌🤣. I’d even appreciate it if someone’s in the mood to explain the unexplainable! 💬 In a better world none of this would happen but I suppose it’s not the world’s fault, it’s the people who get too big for their boots and make you question everything and anything when it’s them doing the damage.

Thank you for reading these messy thoughts that when looked at from an adjacent angle, make a bit of sense! 🙌😂 I wish for peace in a place that deserves it in bucket loads and for justice to be served. I have a tendency to make things sound like I believe they’re easy to obtain when in all honesty, I’m aware that it’s not that simple. If only tho, you know!?

Anyway, share your thoughts in the comments and please be respectful in doing so! I’m off so take care, stay safe and buh-bye 🌊✨💕xx

  1. I so agree with you. It’s horrible what’s happening. Every war is. I just don’t understand why they don’t cover other wars too… they also matter you know. I also donated money for the people in Ukraine. I hope it will end soon 😥. Putin is not a human being but a monster really. I have no idea why these kind of things happen. I will never understand it. In a war there are only loosers. He wants to have a part of Ukraine because he claims those parts. He is totally crazy… i cant watch the news much. It’s way too overwhelming and I also have to care for myself. I do what I can… beautiful post ❤ You wrote it very well. I also don’t know all about politics.

    1. Thank you Christina, I was a bit worried to share this post as you never know what might get said but it’s only right that wars are not swept under the rug and I agree, other wars just don’t get the coverage when it’s all so horrific and wrong. I hope it ends soon too and that Ukraine is given the help and support they seek to get through this. You’re right, it’s unacceptable what Putin is doing. How can he even think it’s right or justified? And how can he have followers after the pain he’s caused?

It sends the mind into a spiral trying to make sense of things. Couldn’t have said it better myself, in war there are only losers. It’s like Putin thinks even if he were to “win” he’d be left controlling those parts of Ukraine and everyone would move on but that’s not how it works. Ukraine is not his for the taking. I read about it more than I watch. It really is overwhelming and so sad hearing/seeing what people are going through right at this moment. There’s no wrong in taking time for yourself as then you can help others better through helping yourself and knowing what you can handle. That really means a lot, thank you for your kindness. Take care 🥰💛
