Hi elf-ryone! 💚❤️

Today’s post is short and sweet like the treat it was meant to be 🤣. Yesterday evening my sister and I attempted to put together a gingerbread house kit that contained pre-shaped gingerbread icing + candy decorations and it didn’t go entirely to plan! 😅 (Naturally I’m using the experience for content purposes 😌😂). Despite that, we ended up having a good laugh because no matter what happens we always have fun so I feel okay in sharing it….I think 🤔. The fun side of things didn’t personally extend to the gingerbread house because we actually didn’t want to eat it and that was laid out from the beginning when we realized what was ahead of us (well actually I guess that means it’s a happy gingerbread house because its surviving! 🤷….until it eventually ends up in the bin 🤣). All for the love of feeling festive! 😁🎄 So let’s take a look and I’ll explain in a bit more detail…oh and WARNING 🚨: There are no aesthetic pictures in this post, I couldn’t even be bothered to remove the flyaway pieces of icing on the plate 🙈 but it does look a bit like snow so yay to small victories! 🌨️😂

The gingerbread came with candy canes printed onto it so we were onto a real winner in terms of looks because that’s just cute! 🍭 (And I know that’s not a candy cane emoji but it’ll have to do!). The instructions explained that the icing needed a “massage” to soften but that was a lie if there ever was one because it wasn’t exactly perfect after that. For one thing: it STANK (even tho it doesn’t go out of date until mid next year 😕), must be something to do with all the E numbers it was packed with, they didn’t seem to age well in terms of shelf life 🤣. When it finally decided it was ready to be properly piped it still took some muscle to do so and at first that wasn’t rewarding because it wouldn’t stick! There was time to let it do it’s think tho as I started with the decorations first before the whole putting it together thing.

In amongst trying to make it work, my sister set to on making some icing and she did…but then the icing sugar fell into the bowl and it was hilarious 🤣. Hers looked a much nicer shade of snow/white than the translucent goo that came in the kit….it really doesn’t sound like I’m trying not to moan here but I am trying, honest 🙌😂. My sister said the windows looked THICK but I assured her, it’s just double glazing 🤣. The most fun came from putting the sprinkles on the roof because they could hide any mishaps! There was an order at first and then it became a race to make sure they stuck to the icing in time. All the while my sis showed me funny TikTok’s and played Christmas songs 🎶.

By the time it was complete I was in no mood for fancy pictures as you can tell! 🤣 Icing wreaks havoc on your hands when it’s like a brick so I just wanted to hold a hot water bottle 🧱….my hands didn’t exactly have a good evening now that I think about it because later in the evening my fingers got shut in the door but they’re still here to tell the tale….or listen to it I guess, so I won’t let karma change that by dipping into the story behind it 🙌 If I thought icing hurt, I had no idea what was to come I tell you 😂. Anyway, back to the post! My sister and I are planning on making a gingerbread house from scratch as she has had success in the past making them and I’m more than willing to decorate 😏.

Last year we made gingerbread men so it was nice switching things up, even if it didn’t go entirely to plan! 🍪 I’m beginning to think that gingerbread kits are a “snow” go 🚫🤣.
