Haunted houses welcome you with open arms but the occupants don’t want you there
An apparition tells you so
Levitating on the spot, knowing it doesn’t have to move to cause fear
LEAVE it screams, seemingly giving you the chance
Only, you find that you cannot move.
Weeping surrounds you, an unbearable sound
Evil pulses though the building…until it all stops.
Empty is the spot where the house once stood
Never to be seen again.
Hellooooo pumpkins! π (I didn’t go far in trying to find a spooky greeting and I’m in no mood to recycle ones from the past so we’re gonna go with that, no questions asked! just laying that out there which is probably more scary an encounter than this whole post π). How are you doing? π Or at the very least how were you doing before you read that?
A while back I shared an acrostic poem about Summer and it seemed to go down a hit so this time round I thought I’d take it down a story route and less of a nostalgic one (although it could be seen as nostalgia when looking back on the poor person featured I suppose π ). The only thing I could perhaps explain a bit more is the beginning when I said “welcome with open arms” by that I meant the people who own the haunted house. They let you in gladly but the long-term occupants are the ones who don’t take a liking to you….(maybe you SHOULD be more wary of the owners as they must know what they’re sending you into? π΅π¦). I love it when there’s loads of ways to look at a piece of writing! β¨
This was a lil spooky shot π₯ so I hope it provided that and went some way in giving you a fright! (Humour me and just say yes, it’ll make things way easier ππ).
Thanks for reading! π What’s your acrostic poem for the word: Halloween? Are you excited about the occasion itself? I got pumpkin bunting yesterday and it hangs across my room (which may have encouraged your new title now that I think about it π€π). Whenever I walk in it scares me as I keep forgetting I’ve put it up π. Be sure to let me know what you think happened to the person in the poem?? πΈοΈ I’m dying to know! πΉ (Ps what IS that emoji?).
I like to think that every year the house reappears and the last human they stole becomes the ghost luring others in! π² But that kind of ignores the whole “never to be seen again” part π. Maybe it’s only seen by one person at a time so the rest of us think it’s gone for good? I like that π«. Well, well, well! you’ve got a lot of questions to answer so run along and get your pen and paper, can’t say I’ll wait around…I might just disappear π₯. Hope you have a spine-chilling day (and not only because it is bloody freezing! πβοΈ).
I love these acrostic poems!!! You should do one every season!

Thank you so much Zainab!! π That’s a fabulous idea, I’ve written one for this Christmas and almost bypassed Halloween completely so luckily got that one in first π

Ahhh that’s what I wanted to hear! π Thank you β¨π I set out to try encompass Halloween as a whole and ended up just focusing on a house but am pleased with it anyway π

No not excited for it. Find it a bit crass and hate trick and treaters knocking. Saying that have got Skelton jogging bottoms and today did top 5 orange and black books. It is a good acrostic poem, I donβt think I have written one since primary school; I may have to have a go at one not sure whether Halloween or a different word!

That’s a shame but understandable. Luckily we don’t get trick or treaters and I’ve never been more grateful for that than I am right now with everything that’s going on in the world π. Ah skeleton joggers sound cool! I enjoyed your book post π. Thank you very much! I only learnt about them properly in my last acrostic poem post π. Yes do! Would love to read it β¨π
