Braveness in Blogging! πŸŒΉ

Hi everyone!

This is something I wrote a little bit about back in 2017 on Twitter that I thought would be nice to share with you all 🐦 I compiled a list of all the brave things we bloggers do ✨ (most of the points can also be applied to YouTubers as well!). Sometimes you just need to be reminded of the stuff that you might not have noticed were achievements so today we are going to go through some brave acts that you may or may not have done in your blogging lifetime.

Feel free to leave any more that you can think of in the comments and we can create a long list that brings a load of happy memories! ✨ Here goes everything, it is brave to:

…Start a blog

It is a big step putting yourself out there and allowing yourself to be judged. The way I would recommend to get into blogging is to just jump in headfirst as that is what I did and I survived πŸ˜‚ You learn as you go along and no amount of preparation is going to change that so don’t put it off by saying you’re not ready, just do it if you want to!

…write a personal post

This can take a lot out of you. For me there is a huge buildup behind posting something personal as a lot more than just typing goes into it. You have to actually want to share it first and that in itself is a notable feat before thinking about how to do it, then actually going ahead with it and all that this entails before putting it out there and waiting for it to be reciprocated 🀞

…allow your posts to receive comments

By doing this you are leaving yourself open to receiving not only good messages but also bad ones and that is a very huge step especially when you’re writing from the heart and any glance in the wrong direction can really bring you down. Knowing this could happen and still doing it is incredible and should always be acknowledged πŸ’Œ

…comment on someone elses blog

I used to be nervous about coming across as a crazed fan when commenting on another bloggers post but that feeling has sorted itself out over time. When I want to comment and let someone know that I’ve enjoyed their post, I will!

…share your blog with someone you know

I did this straight away with my family and they were very supportive of what I am doing but sadly this isn’t the case for everyone. Let it be known that it is also okay not to want to tell anyone about your blog, you’re allowed to keep it to yourself if that is what you want to do. Whatever keeps you going strong is what is important ✨

…Be the real you

Random I know as how could you be anyone else? 😡 But it is brave to show everyone your true self as it’s easy to mask over the facts and make everything seem perfect in your safe space when in reality it is anything but. To show this side takes guts and again it is up to you if you choose to do it and if you do then don’t ignore the achievement as it is a mighty one. It takes a lot off of your shoulders to admit you’re going through a tough time as talking about it can only help yourself and others too, that is what being real is, showing the good as well as the bad.

…allow yourself to be changed

Confidence is a good example of this one! It is awfully brave to acknowledge a change in yourself, accept it as a good thing and welcome it with open arms. I’ve grown a lot since I started blogging, so much that old posts feel so distant and yet they hold such lovely memories πŸ’•

…go to a bloggers event

I enjoy bloggers events and being surrounded by like-minded peeps! Don’t get me wrong, they make me very anxious but I always come away feeling like I’ve had a good time and that’s worth the nerves.

…stand up for what you believe in within a post

Voicing your opinion keeps you sane! πŸ™Œ There might be someone out there with a similar perspective who is waiting for someone else to share it so start off that chain of events and don’t feel alone in your thoughts.

…go self-hosted

This is on the cards for the future when I use up all of the free space on WordPress but luckily that isn’t for a while as the idea of going self-hosted stresses me out! As much as it worries me though I know I will make it happen one day as the idea of ever having to give up blogging hurts a hell of a lot more πŸ˜‚

…take a blogging break

I used to think that taking a break was a bad thing until I actually took one myself and it felt so GOOD (I even wrote I post on all that I learnt about taking them here that is worth a read if you’re considering going on one yourself). It really put things into perspective and I no longer feel bad about going away as I come back ten times stronger! πŸ’ͺ

And on that note! πŸ˜‚ Thank YOU for reading! Now it’s your turn to get involved, leave your thoughts in the comments and I hope you have a wonderful day! πŸ’•

  1. This is such a great post! I agree with pretty much all of them πŸ˜‚
I have never been to a blogger event, but I would really like to go to one! I don’t really know how to go about it though haha.
Also I definitely have changed with my blog, got more confident and just love my blog. Whereas at the beginning I did love blogging but I think I was β€œscared” of those around me finding out. But it is fine, I don’t really talk about it but my family know etc 😊 also I love commenting now but similar to you I used to feel like I was just annoying people by commenting! But I love getting comments and it just makes my day and I get so excited πŸ˜‚ However, I also find it is so hard, because I work and do other things to just sit down and read people’s blogs that I love which is a shame 😫 but I am trying to dedicate more time to reading people’s blogs again and sharing that love! Great post lovely πŸ’–

    1. Aww thank you!! πŸ˜„ Blogger events are a lot of fun, there is an Instagram page dedicated to meet ups for bloggers in Ireland every so often so maybe there is one for your area too? 🀞 That’s so nice you’ve gotten more confidence through blogging! πŸ’« Thank you for such a lovely comment! πŸ’•

  2. hi!! i love the graphic for this post.

    – yes, starting a blog is super brave. i remember i started quite a few and bounced around various platforms before deciding my current blog is gonna be my bby. i also jumped headfirst into the blogging world and had no clue how anything worked haha
    – my poems and creative pieces have always been personal but i think with poetry it’s so easy to read it as just another poem and not associate it as oh that’s coming from the heart or a personal experience sometimes. but for me, posting what i write about used to take a lot of courage.
    – comments! it makes you so vulnerable leaving yourself open to support and also criticism. however, it’s the best way to learn
    – oh gosh, tell me about leaving behind comments or random emails saying wow your blog is amazing! i still worry i’m going to come of as a crazed fangirl but hey, if there’s a chance it’ll make someone’s day and keep them inspired to blog, imma do it πŸ˜€
    – it took me quite a while to share my blog with trusted friends, and then to display it so openly on my insta/ mention it when relevant. i just felt like i’d be judged or torn apart for what i choose to blog about. but now i don’t give two flying cows about it all. i’m not ready to share it with the fam yet though…but hopefully one day
    – i think late 2019 and 2020 is the year i’m trying to let more of my personality shine through my post. i used to be so reserved and untalkative/share stuff on my blog because i’m a shy person irl who finds opening up difficult, but i’m just going for it now because hey, why should i hide away? and it’s only fair to share the real you with your supporters i think
    – i really want to go to a bloggers event one day with someone (because like you, the idea makes me feel akdjasldjsakdksaj) and self hosting YES it’s also a card i hope to play a few years down
    – my blogging breaks have been so impromptu and spontaneous but they are needed and a healthy thing to partake in.

so sorry about this essay of a comment but wanted to share my thoughts too! loved this post. made me smile and was very engaging to read

    1. Hey Kiya! πŸ’• Did you start off with WordPress or try others out too? I honestly think just jumping in is best, I think that’s usually how I ever start anything as otherwise I just spend way too long thinking about what could go wrong πŸ˜‚

I’m so happy that you share such personal posts as those are what I really connected with and had such a huge impact on me, it’s not every day that I can relate to stuff like that πŸ’« Comments definitely are the best way to learn and YES I’ve learned to not hold back on saying stuff that could mean something to the author of the post as these people need to be told just how incredible their writing is!

People I used to know have found my blog on Instagram and they’ve liked my posts but we don’t talk about them so there is an undercurrent of support going on in that they wanted me to know that they know I do this, my heart went wild when I saw their names pop up though πŸ˜‚ I’m shy too so it’s lovely that this place is helping us come out of ourselves a bit and that it has allowed our paths to cross β™₯️

Going to events is definitely easier when you’re not on your own, at least then if nothing else you can have a fun time with a friend & make a memory ✨ That’s good you take breaks no matter how spontaneous they may be it’s important to do that for yourself and take some time out before returning stronger than ever! Thank you so much, you’re a kind soul πŸ’•xx

I started off with wix an another site I can not recall. And then I found WordPress my baby. Exactly! All the planning and self doubt and what’s ifs just drag it all out. might as well just dive in πŸ˜‚βœ‹πŸΎ
aha πŸ™ˆ it actually makes me smile hearing that it’s the personal posts that spoke to you the most. means something, even if it’s one person, it’s had some kind of positive impact on.
haha some of the best friendships have been formed by moments of fangirling and appreciation!
OHHH I’ve had those moments too! like the silent supporters who acknowledge your craft in a lowkey way. it’s heart warming
it’d be awesome if you make a post on attending events ect and how to go about it and how it works and stuff so people like me can get an inside glimpse of it all hehe.

      2. Ah right. Same! Now that I think about it the friendships I have made on here were formed when I was not holding back on how I felt about their writing ✨ That’s a great idea! I must do that, although I’m no expert on the whole socializing side of it (which contradicts why I go in the first place πŸ˜‚) but it would be a realistic take to put out there for sure! πŸ’•Xx

    1. Ahhh thank you so much! πŸ’• I really hope it does help people take notice of all that they have achieved but might not have stopped to pat themselves on the back for. Thank you for reading and taking the time to comment πŸ˜„
