Some Scary News! 😧

Hi everyone! I did NOT expect to be writing this but something scary has happened just in time for Halloween! Last Friday after my dad drove away a car slowed down on the road outside our house and parked at the gate. After a while an elderly man got out and I watched him walk round the back of the house 😲 (no offence to him but my first thought was “you’re far too old to be reading our electricity meter!” 😂).

There he tried to get in at the back door, pushing his weight against it to test it’s strength and hitting at it, he then went round the side and started knocking madly on the kitchen windows (which were open). This all was a huge fright for my mum and I (I’ll admit I just froze) and when my mum told him this and asked him what he was doing he waited a while not looking her in the eye before taking a piece of crumpled up paper out of his pocket (almost as an afterthought as he hadn’t planned on anyone being home).

On the piece of paper was a name and a phone number in scribbled writing and he mumbled the question “do you know this person?”. My mum told him to ask next door and he left. I immediately went on our security cameras (which he hadn’t noticed) and checked he was gone as we hadn’t seen him walk out of the drive but luckily he did. Through CCTV we have pictures of him but not the cars registration as he parked it at an angle in our drive 🙁 We do know that it was a dark green Toyota Landcruiser Jeep though which is something alongside his photos!

It was VERY scary, especially since only weeks before in the Summertime we’d have the back door open to let air in on hot days. If it had have been open this time he would have just walked in 😲 And that’s not all! The next day when my sister and mum were popping out to get us all something to eat (as the electricity was down after a storm) they found him parked in by our neighbors gate!!

This time he was looking surprisingly less frail and had two teenagers with him and their hair was slicked back. My mum & sister drove by them a few times to let them know we were aware of them, my dad kept walking up our drive and we later learned after we told our neighbor about it that they opened their front door to ask what the man wanted and he drove off immediately so he was scared off.

This has really shocked us and we have since contacted the guards (police) and our local community alert (who I am happy to now know live up our road and will come out to us if this happens again). Also, word of this experience is spreading incredibly fast on Facebook after I wrote about it and many people have experienced similar happenings and those that haven’t are now aware which is great!

We keep reminding ourselves that at least this was our warning as many people don’t get one and just arrive home to find they have been burgled 🤷 It’s really made me worried to be home alone in the future (now I know how Kevin felt! 😂) especially living in a rural area. Now I’m fearful even just going out as I’m constantly on edge wondering what is happening but I have to remember that our home is never empty, there is always someone there (it’s just that thiefs don’t seem to care if anyone’s home as our TV was on and he just walked right by the window ignoring knocking on the front door like a normal person 😕).

Anyway I just wanted to let everyone know and to remind you all to make sure doors/windows are shut + locked and be aware that these things happen when you least expect it. You can become kind of complacent when nothing does happen and that’s when something will so remain vigilant! (But of course try not to let it make you crazy like it is beginning to make me! 😂).

Thank you for reading guys! Have you ever experienced anything like this before? Let me know and I hope you’re well, safe & having a good day ❤️

    1. I know right!! That’s what I said as soon as he left 😂 It all happened so fast and yet time slowed down. Thank you lovely ❤️ He was so creepy looking, my friend identified him correctly as the epitome of Scrooge 😂 It’s really messing up my head, it’s so annoying because each of my family have things we need to be out doing and yet we don’t feel like we can leave the house unattended. He walked in looking like he thought he owned the place, dread to think what he (and the kids/teenagers with him the day after) were capable of if they were of the mindset to do something so horrible. Thank you!! ❤️

    1. I can’t stop thinking about it 😟 Don’t understand why some people want to take stuff that’s not theirs + think they’re deserving of it. If I caught one I’d like to think I’d stand up for myself + my family but in reality it makes me freeze. Thank you!! ❤️

      1. Yeah I don’t understand it either! I know what you mean, it’s easier said than done. In the moment I’m sure it’s so shocking that you only think of what you should have done after the event, and by then it’s too late. Stay safe ❤
