Benefits of blogging breaks!

Hi everyone! ❤️ Welcome back to my blog! Today I’ve put together a list of reasons why it’s important to take a blogging break 💡 I know I’m one to avoid breaks like the plague but not even I can doubt the benefits of taking them.

Having recently come back from a blogging break the benefits are fresh in my mind. When I went away this post was just a shell waiting to be written in but now I have gained some knowledge I did not have beforehand so I can’t wait to share my thoughts with you and see if you feel the same way! Here is why I think it is good to take blogging breaks:

It makes you appreciate what you have

Not that you don’t appreciate what you have whilst you’re blogging! But without focusing all of your attention on one thing in particular (for example your blog) you really notice what you have and are grateful for it in a way that I don’t think can be obtained whilst keeping it up continuously.

It makes you see things from an outsiders perspective

Whilst I was away I felt like I was seeing life through my old eyes back before I started Elsie LMC and it gave me a refreshing take on where I should go next with this and what is/is not important & shouldn’t be stressed over as much.

You can gather inspiration

I came back from my latest break with over 70 post ideas!! (Which has now built up a little bit more over time thanks to the leftover benefits of taking a break). I couldn’t quite believe it myself but what I do know is that I wouldn’t have been able to even grasp that inspiration if I’d still been blogging at the time of discovering it (my mind would have blocked it out and not been as open to it).

You get to rest your weary head

You work too hard not to take a break once in a while! You’ll come back fighting ten times stronger than before if you put your all into your time away and you will actually look forward to coming back!

You see why you needed a break in the first place

For me it was because I had pharyngitis when I originally thought I was in complete control of the situation and was going to get things done (but I achieved that last benefit and rested 😂). Sometimes you just need to take a step back for everything to fall into place.

It helps evaluate where you are in the blogging world and where you want to be

Without having to constantly wonder what I should be doing next postwise I had a clearer perspective on what direction I should be taking my blog in + what I want to do with it. I’m never gonna be 100% sure what I want to do as if you’re here often you’ll know I’m incredibly indecisive (well you know now! 😂) but I like to think I have a small idea and am in control of the situation.

It allows you to avail of other hobbies

I started to read again which hadn’t really stopped before but was dwindling a bit. I’m currently in the middle of Turtles All The Way Down by John Green and it’s really good.

Thank you for reading! 😉 Why do you think it’s good to take blogging breaks? Have a lovely day! ❤

  1. You are so right about taking breaks 💖 I never have done it as I’m afraid I can’t do it as I will miss it too much 😢 I also think maybe it’s bad for my blog. I agree that we get inspired more when we aren’t writing. Turtles all the way down is such a good book!

    1. Thank you! 😊 That’s okay, do whatever you feel comfortable with at the moment. Isn’t it! I’m going in and out of a couple books at the moment and have been meaning to get back to it 💖

  2. I take breaks when I run out of ideas for a post and yeah it really helps to gather new ideas. It’s important to take break from blogging when there’s other stuffs to concentrate on.

  3. These are great reasons for blogging breaks! Any social media breaks are good. I had one when we had family come and stay and I loved being off social media x
