What I’m looking forward to in Spring! 🐝

Hi everyone! How are you today? ❤ With spring around the corner I have been thinking a lot about all that is in store for the season and am slowly but surely getting excited about it! At first I felt I was betraying Winter as this alongside Autumn had been long awaited and I was looking forward to the cold weather in which hot chocolate and cosy jumpers ruled but now I feel like that time has outstayed it’s welcome. I’m ready to ease into the warmer weather with the help of Spring! (When we’re well into Spring I’ll probably regret saying that and wish Winter was back again I just know it! 🙄😂). Here in Ireland, Spring will have officially commenced on the 20th of March so there is more than enough time to enjoy all things winter whilst looking forward to the following things Spring will hopefully bring:

A fresh start

When I think of Spring not only do I think of the clean slate from which new flowers will blossom thanks to autumn, I think of having a clean perspective because of all the changes the season brings along (this means I might just tidy my room! 😂). The first word that comes to mind about this new season is: Fresh! (The title probably gave that one away! 😂). There is the want to create a clean space and live in a fresh environment and the fresh air that is different from that of a winter’s day because it doesn’t bite but is instead refreshing and needed.

The in-between weather

Spring is more warm than cold leading us into the hot summer weather that I’m not looking forward to at all and so it is the perfect way to get used to the upcoming heat that will serve as a threat health wise to both my mum and I. I have a really powerful fan (a replacement as my last one broke 😂) that I have on whilst I sleep to soothe and I can’t wait to find out how it fares in cooling down on a warm day!

Lighter material clothing + accessories 👒

I can’t wait to get out all of my less heavier clothes! In the evenings it’s been nice snuggling down in my fluffy dressing gown but at the same time it’s kind of like I’m lumbering it around when I’d much rather be at the correct temperature with only pajamas on if that makes any sense? I’m looking forward to not having to wear a coat whenever I go out and being able to just leave the house in a top or with a jacket that I can tie around my waste if it’s not needed.

Something I know I need to do is get a hat to shade myself from the sun as my face is just as much at risk from my Raynaud’s as my fingers and toes are. I hate wearing hats but I hate the consequences more so I need to change my opinion of them being in the way 😂 Also, what with wearing lighter shirts I’m hoping to get more use out of necklaces I have so as not to feel less covered around my neck where scarfs would usually be.

Refreshments

Ice creams and cold water on a warm day give one of the best feelings ever! That’s not to say that I didn’t have ice cream whilst cradling my hot water bottle throughout winter 😂 but it’s that bit better and more appreciated on a warm day.

Spring cute style duvet cover

I’m looking around at the moment trying to find a reasonably priced floral or just plain cute designed duvet cover (so far they all cost way too much for what they are) so as to invite the season inside and give my room a dainty touch. At the moment I go between 2 duvets (one is grey with swirls but turns over to be white with grey swirls and the other is rainbow tie-dye which turns over to have a dream catcher) and because of their alternate sides they’ve worked as 4 for a while but I would love to own one that has a plain white background with repeats of a single pattern/logo that doesn’t stand out too much so can go with everything else in my room (which is all kind of haphazard in colour 😂). Here are a couple I am considering/using as a guideline for what I would choose (the 1st and 3rd images are from Argos and the 2nd and 4th are from Homestore and more):

The dawn chorus 🐦

This is something I’ll regret looking forward to when it starts but it’s been so long since I’ve heard birdsong that my imagination is clouding the reality of how annoying it can actually be! 😂 Memories of this happening last year are overshadowed with waking up early (which I want to get back into doing again) and I can’t seem to remember getting frustrated with it all even though I know I did more than once! 😂

Longer days 🌞

Back in Autumn when the days started getting shorter I remember saying how much I love it when it gets dark out early on but now I’m ready for the light to stay. It’s almost like a gift to have a longer day!

🌻 Nature + Wildlife 🐝

Two words: Cherry blossoms! 😍 (I was going to say one word for a second there! 🙈😂). Do you remember that tree covered in flowers (that might not have been cherry blossoms but were the closest I’ve seen in a while) I showed you that was at the side of my home in this post? Well highlight the “was” because I don’t know if I mentioned it or not but a herd of cows got into our garden some time later and tore it down 😭 It had been supported by a large stone and wood pillers in a makeshift flowerbed so it didn’t stand a chance! 😂 How come when cows get into our garden they act like they own it but when sheep or other animals roam in after either escaping or on their route to another field they don’t come all the way in they just trot up the drive politely 😂

…Anywho! Where was I? Oh yeah, the trees gone! 😂 That was our only source of the beautiful cherry blossoms but we have a proper tree at the back of the garden that I’m hoping will retreat from it’s bare state and become green again (I’ve forgotten what it looks like when it’s the way it should look in other seasons! 😂).

This time round I was hoping to get out to the berries growing in the garden before they disappear as I was late in doing that last year but in the end I decided against that as the wildlife enjoyed them so much I wouldn’t want to take that away. I want to buy a house for the many birds that make our garden their home (maybe then they won’t make a nest in the hut above our front door and swoop down whenever we walk up to it 😬😂). At the beginning of December I hung up some bird feeders on the tree at the back of our garden and in the middle of January when I went to see what was left it had all gone which was a bit alarming as I’m pretty sure there was a holder too 😂 I can’t wait to put more stuff out for them!

I don’t know If I’ve ever told you this before but I’m scared of butterflies up close 🙈 I don’t know why but for as long as I can remember I haven’t liked it when they flutter fast around me 😂 If I’m sitting still outside I’m fine with them and won’t want to get away though. When I was little I’d even go as far as want to touch them but that was before I understood that you’re not supposed to of course! 😂 They’re are all so graceful and uniquely hypnotic so I’m looking forward to the peace they bring to the garden (that is when I’m not running away from them! 😂). I’m even looking forward to seeing bee’s buzzing about but not the wasps! They always find new ways to get into the house despite the covers we hang on the doors it’s weird 😂

The sun’s picturesque rays

Throughout both Spring and Summer there is always one thing I can be sure of…the suns rays flooding into my room and casting orange shadows in all the right places making everything look so magical and cosy 😍 The same happens in our front garden and a serene stillness settles over every surface. In these moments I can’t help but appreciate life more than I already do 😂 You just know that there’s something incredible happening and it’s always an honour to bear witness to it feeling more connected to/in the moment than ever!

Thank you for reading! 😉 What are you looking forward to in Spring? Let me know and have a beautiful day! ❤

  1. Completely agree! I cannot wait for I’ve cream and ALL the birds! 🐦 I love winter and all it brings; cosy nights, Christmas, big woolly jumpers! But it gets to a point where the rain gets a bit tiring (cornwall dweller!) And you just want that spring feeling back! 🐝🌼

  2. Great post!! I can’t wait for spring either – when all the daffodils and snowdrops surface form the ground ❤ But bedding – why did you have to mention it?! The temptation! Noo.. Hahaha I'm currently under constant restraint to stop myself buying a new set and you've pictured some lovely ones hehe! And yes to lighter clothing and layering! Can't wait 🙂 xo
