Hi everyone! How are you today? I hope you’re well! ❤ The other evening my sister and I went to see The Greatest Showman at the cinema and it was absolutely amazing! It was my sister’s choice and aside from knowing it was a musical that involved a circus I really had no idea what the storyline would entail but I was intrigued going by these facts alone! 😂 This post is by no means a proper review of the movie as I don’t think I could possibly put into words just have great it was and so this means there are hopefully no spoilers (I thought I should add that in the title just in case you’re planning on seeing it). I’m going to try give a short outline of what the film was about so as just to assist in acknowledging how much of an impact it had on me.
Without majorly giving anything away, the true-ish story follows PT Barnum who in wanting to provide a better life for his family buys a museum and creates a circus containing unique people as acts. It becomes the talk of the town and is soon famous yet has it’s critics who would rather the performers didn’t exist at all. Caught up in fame, Barnum begins to loose sight of the reason he made the circus in the first place and everything starts to fall out of place.
The story is told beautifully with the help of poignant inspiring songs that I have no doubt will stay with me forever. I loved the bond between the circus acts that allowed them to feel accepted and like they were a part of a family and it was an emotional rollercoaster to say the very least. I honestly can’t hum “a million dreams” to myself without forcing down a surge of tears 🙈😂 but they’re not all sad tears, some are happy and so that just shows how unbelievably touching and magical the movie was.
I now understand why so many people have gone back to see it again and I think it’s on the cards for us too as my sister and I both agreed when the credits rolled down the screen that our mum would love it too. It’s a feel good movie that motivates you to want to be yourself! It had a bit of everything in it and I’m glad that I went to see it as although it’s definitely something that will be bought later and treasured on DVD, it was that bit more special and hypnotic on the big screen (I genuinely lost trace of where I was, all that mattered to me was the characters and whether or not everything turned out alright in the end for them 😂).
It also wasn’t one of those musicals where they break out in song every five seconds which I know can be off-putting for some (it actually leaves you wanting them to do so though once you catch on that every song is brilliant!) and all of the actors were incredibly talented. If you haven’t seen The Greatest Showman yet you can probably guess that I’m going to recommend that you do because you won’t regret it!
Thank you for reading! 😉 Have you seen The Greatest Showman? Did you enjoy it? Let me know and have a lovely day! ❤
I really liked this movie too! The songs were catchy, and honestly it was fun seeing Zac Efron sing again haha!

It was amazing! 😄 Same, I was unsure about whether or not he could as wasn’t there supposed to be a rumour about that not being his voice in high school musical when another guy went on the tour in his place? It must have been somewhat nostalgic for him to do that again in a movie 😂 thank you for reading! 😄❤

I loved the The Greatest Showman! It was so amazing and I love all the songs 🙂 The only thing I had a problem was with the character Hugh Jackman played. I felt like the ending was a bit rushed and the others forgave him too quickly. I also didn’t understand how the singer he had hired could think it’s okay to kiss him knowing full well he has a wife and kids. Anyways, really loved the movie and great post x ❤

Looking back on it now I agree with you that he was forgiven to quickly (maybe the others didn’t want to loose their jobs 😂). Yes! That’s strange as well, it was like a rushed story to create some conflict for when he arrived back home to be forgiven in two seconds 😂. It’s weird how with any other movie the faults would ruin it but with this it was still brilliant 😂 Thank you so much for reading! 😄❤

I watched it when I was in Calcutta and was quite blown away by the details worked into the film. Not to miss out on the fact that Hugh Jackman is superbly easy on the eyes. And hey, plenty of caramel and cheese popcorn can only heighten the pleasure of watching The Greatest Showman 🙂 xx

Oh my goodness caramel and cheese popcorn sounds delicious! 😍 You’re right, there was a lot of extra detail in it (That gives me a reason to see it again incase I missed any! 😏😂) Thank you for reading! 😄❤

My pleasure, Lucy. Caramel and cheese is heavenly especially when you have that combination twice over. I might watch the film all over again 🙂 xx

Yep saw Sun. It was good and agree songs fitted in well as all about shows. I was a bit uncomfortable about him exploiting people and then thought it ended a bit abruptly. But generally entertaining.

I agree, it was wrong what he did. I suppose even though there wasn’t much else left of the true part of the story to tell they could have ended it better (hopefully they’re planning on making a second one 🤔 I’m speaking too soon seeing as this ones only just come out 😂) thank you for reading! 😄❤
